Guys,

I have a Vermeer TS-20 3pt tree spade that will fit on my '84 1710, but it does not have self contained hydraulics like my BH does.

I did pick up a rear remote kit ($300-$400) by an accessory company a few years ago that I never completed. It has an adapter plate that goes between a cover on the right side of the 3pt lift housing with hoses, valve and connectors. But another tractor owner once told me that would interfere with my FEL or 3pt operation, so it was never fully installed.

So the questions for someone more experienced then I am, should I go with the remote kit or come up with another PTO pump and reservoir so the Tree Spade is self contained like the hoe? Not sure if the native 1710 hydraulics are up to this, either.

And does anyone have a good source for hydraulic reservoirs that I could use on the TS? I have one on the ARPS BH, but that one needs to stay there.

Jack

I have rear remotes on my 1710 that I bought about a year and a half ago and have not used them. The owners manual tells me to but the 3 pt control lever all the way up into the topmost notch to use the remote. If I accidently but the lever there I can hear the engine change pitch like it is trying to push oil. I'm pretty sure the loader still works with the lever in that position, but I am not positve as I can't remeber if I ever tried to use the loader when in that position. The manual says not operate the tractor with the lever in that position unless using the remotes.

I think the biggest concern would be pump capacity. I tend to think it would be much to low for a tree spade. I believe my pump only puts out 3.8 gals per minute. I cannot curl the bucket and lift at same time.

Thanks for the response, ND.

I know the loader does not work if the lever is up in that notch. When reading over the manual it does say that if your using the port at the flow valve for power out, then you need to be up in the notch. I was hoping that the use of the remote adaptor (and this kit is similar to the Ford / NH one you showed in another thread, except with long hoses instead of hard mount) would allow you to use the remote without needing to have the 3pt all the way up. I would think you would want the use of the rear remote under any lift height requirements. Maybe tomorrow I'll put in the adaptor and see what works and doesn't. I just don't need to blow a pump.

With a tree spade you can just run one cylinder at a time, so the fluid volume should not be too different then the FEL. And BTW, I can curl and lift with my 770B. However, the pressure limiting relief for the less then 1910 tractors was never installed on this unit. It's plumbed like a 1910. Never had an issue in the years I had this unit, but never try to lift anything very heavy unless the BH is in place.

Hope it works for you, then you can fill up that 10 acres with some nice trees.

Them 10 acres are filled up with trees. That's the problem.

Something is goofy with this setup. Installed the plate and everything is jammed as though the actuator is in the notch position. Need more time to play with this.
