I'm up to 1600 hours on the 1710 and thinking it might be time to think about injectors. If I remember, the manual talks about having them gone over at 800 hrs intervals. Never done.

I've rebuilt injectors for other diesel long ago and checked the pricing just for plungers and nozzles and it's almost the cost of an entire injector. Of course a shop might find on a tester that they are OK, although I do get more black smoke then I care to. Not bad, but it's there. And yes the filters are good.

Anyway, anyone go through an injector service on their 17**?

I have never changed the injectors in my 1900. I do regularly add SeaFoam to the fuel to clean the injectors. I would put in new or remaned injectors. A improperly set injector can cause problems like burning holes in pistons. Leave the rebuilding to the pros.

Wasn't planning on doing my own as I don't have the testing equipment anymore. Just was putting up a reference about the costs of parts vs new injectors

I have several friends who work on diesel engines. They all say get your injector rebuilt by a pro or by rebuilt. New ones are, too costly.
