The starter solenoid on my 1700 started spitting sparks a couple of weeks ago so I called my local New Holland Dealer and they shipped me a new imported solenoid. I installed the new solenoid by removing the cables and wires from the old solenoid and hooking them up the same way on the new solenoid. Everthing worked great and I was mowing again. Yesterday I stopped after a few hours of mowing, it will not start. Turn the key to the on position and the oil & battry lights come on strong. Turn the key to start, I hear a click and the lights go out. Turn the key back to on and no lights. Wait about an hour, turn key to on, battery & oil lights come on. Turn key to start, click again and lights go out. Tried disconnecting the wire from the ignition to the solenoid and then jumping from that terminal to the battery side of the solenoid, same thing, lights out & click. Pulled battery to put on charger and charger shows battery charged. While battery was out tried the battery from my Wrangler just in case, same result.
Any idea what is going on?
Thanks in advance.
