I can get the bucket to curl up with no problem but if I try to curl the bucket all the way back (bucket face down) it just stop with the cutting edge pointing straight down. I have to rev the engine to get the bucket to go back the last 10 inches or so and then it's very slow. I like to park the bucket face down to keep water from collecting in it when the tractor is on site and not at home and able to store in my shed.

Is this normal or do I have a problem with the loader somewhere?

Thanks

Do you have problem with the bucket uncurling when you have something heavy in it? Kinda had the same problem plus the bucket uncurling on my 18LA. The little orifice NH puts on is work for nothing and wasted time and money. I repacked both of the hydraulic zylinders as we found them leaking internally, so we repacked them and all is like new. Nothing leaks and the bucket goes all the way back. The floppy bucket syndrom went away on mine as well.

Good luck!

Randy, it sounds like a problem with the regenerative function of the FEL control valve. Are you pushing the joystick as far to the right as it will go? Try not pushing it that far over, maybe half way. It should act differently if the valve is working properly.

DieselMonk,

The bucket does not uncurl with a heavy load in it.

Jinman,

I have tried all the way to the right which Fast Dump and all inbetween. The bucket is just real slow when trying to curl under to have the bucket be face down.

If you guy's thinks it's something in the control valve, I'll just have the dealer look at it. It's time for it's 50 hour anyways.

Randy,

The dealer should gladly go over any problems, sticky levers, adjustments at the 50 hour service. I had about 8 items at my 50 hour service and they did it all with no questions asked.

Dunno then... I would do a leak test... that would give you an answer pretty quick.

Randy, the reason I suggested the control valve is that I just can't see there being any difference in the curl cylinders for the last few inches of travel than there is in the rest of the throw. I suppose there could be a hidden defect in the surface of the ram that lets fluid leak near the end of the throw like DieselMonk suggested.

With the bucket curled all the way, can you backdrag and have the bucket stay put or does it kinda hang there like a limp dishrag? If it has power, It would seem to be a control valve problem to me. I think having your dealer check it is a good idea. You might also get him to check that the hydraulic pump is putting out the right pressure (2250 on your tractor I think).

On the slim chance your dealer says there is nothing wrong, be sure to ask him to let you try it on another tractor so you can see if it does the same thing. You might ask him to let you try that anyhow just for your own satisfaction.

jinman,

I can back drag with no problems. The bucket does stay in place. It's just when curling the bucket under to place it face down the bucket just hangs with the cutting edge pointing straight down like you limp dishrag. I have to increase the RMP's to get the bucket to move the last few inches. It's like hydraulic rams on the FEL are having a problem extending out the last couple of inches. I've even checked the fluid levels and I'm ok there. I will be calling my dealer today to schedule the pick up of the tractor for it's 50 hour service. I just added that to a small list I have of things that need to be corrected.

Thanks

Randy, my loader goes "BAM!" when the rams bottom out (since we have no other stops) with the engine about 2000 rpm or slightly less. It does it with the joystick all the way over or half-way. There is no way I could call that slow or in any way hanging there like a limp dishrag. It's quick and positive.
