1652 suspension seat broken?

I think I broke the suspension seat on my 1652. The seat worked fine yesterday. Went out today and sat on the seat and it sank to the bottom. When I got up, it wouldn't spring back without me having to lift it up. I tried adjusting the tension but that didn't make a difference. The seat has a set of springs and a hydraulic piston which I assume is only for controling the spring rebound. I can't see anything broken or disconnected, so it makes me wonder if it's the hydraulic piston which is broken. I sprayed lube on all the pivot points and everything seems to move freely. What ever the problem, it's also affecting the safety cut out switch. A couple times using the tractor, I put it into gear and the engine died. It acted like I wasn't compressing the safety switch, but the seat was still compressed all the way to the bottom

I was curious if anyone else has experience anything similar and had any suggestions before I go ripping the seat apart.

I had the same thing happen to me, on my old M-F 1528. There are some hex screws that hold the seat fram togather, and the thread lock that the factory used didn't hold up and the screws worked themselves out, the dealer had to finally replace the seat frame and platform.
It really sucks too, its like riding on top of a cinder block!

I called Northwood Power last week to inquire about the seat. The service manager had a truck at my house in less than a half hour to pick the tractor up. The seat was covered under warranty. The linkage, track, springs and piston were all replaced under warranty.

I had a ramp truck pull into my driveway this morning dropping the tractor back off. Seat works great now. Excellent service from Northwood Power Equipment:thumbsup: and all handled over the phone.

glad to hear you got it fixed, it happened to me also, that's why I passed the info along. I had to drive mine around for a week till the parts came in. ooooh man what a ride.:confused2:
