Getting ready to do an over-all fluid change on the 1710.
The manual mentions adding "oil to the injection pump" every 100 hours. It says add 5 ounces of engine oil to injection pump!!
Is this correct /have any of you all done this!!!

Still scratchin my bald head!!!

i have a Ford 1310 and nowhere in my owners manual do they mention that and i have read it thoroughly. mine has only 3 digits on the hour meter, after 999 it goes back to zero. what about yours?

I found mine in the maintenance manual under the lubrication and maintenance section
Re: hour meter mine has four digits plus a tenths digit as of this AM she reads 1542.2
I will check with a neighbor this weekend when I go back up to Pa. and see what his manual says and check out his proof meter. He has a 1110 I think

Have a new (to me) old 1710. My manual says to add oil to the injection pump with every oil change. There is a little plug in the top of the injection pump and apparently when you add fresh oil, the used oil is displaced out the backside into the engine oil sump. I just filled an oil squirt can full and pumped it in - don't think you can overfill.

neighor has a 1210 and his hour meter has only 3 digits also . I did not look at his injection pump to see if there is an oil port on it, Maybe I'll stroll over there later this AM

I had a little plug in the top of my injector pump on my 1720, but that was for bleading the injector system in case you ran it out of fuel. Are you sure you're putting it in the right place?

Different plug. As I remember, it was toward the rear of the injector pump, on the top. Looked like the end of a bolt, but really was just a little drain plug that you take off with a wrench. May take a little looking to find it, but unless yours is really different from mine, it's there!
