Searched this forum with no success.
1982 Ford 1500: Noticed a noise in front when going from reverse to forward in 4wd. Sounded like slack in either the drive-shaft or differential. Continued mowing in 2wd and later tried to duplicate the noise in 4wd to figure out what was making the noise, but now the front axle won't engage at all. Anyone had this issue?
I have had this tractor since 1990 and this is the first serious mechanical problem. Never got a service manual because didn't need one, but it may be time to get one now.
