1401D rebuild

Newbie here , Started reading the forum a few weeks ago and decided to take my tractor apart and clean her up. You guys are a bad influence .everything was just fine until i saw some of the redo pics and the nice paint. Ive owned my 1401D for about five years now. The little tractor is a workaholic and i havent done anything but use it and regular maintence.I have two properties here in Tx and do alot of work for friends and neihbors .Im adding gauges and a front loader along with work lights and new hoses.

..........I'm about the same point on my tractor but my wheels are still on it. The skin is all painted and I'm working my way through all the little parts getting them cleaned, primed & painted....I'm slow but steady...I'm figuring another month or so and I'll start slappin' it back together /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In the process of doing this I had to learn how to use a paint gun / mix paint / and prep...lots of prep!......there have been times I thought I was sanding off more blunders in paint know how from me that I was putting on.

Well at least this wasnt my first Rodeo . I have restored many old cars and trucks and do paint and body work on the side. Im sandblasting the body and finding mucho rust , I dont plan on making a show tractor by any means just want to clean it up . I did the same thing a few years ago on a 9N i guess it makes me feel better when i have to spend money on something and it doesnt look like a heep of poo.

Now, you're making me want to do that too. When you get it back together, I highly recommend investing $110 in an "Optima" redtop sealed battery to keep that battery box and front end looking like new.

Just got mine fixed up a bit too, although I didn't go as far down as you and Whiskey did. I decided to say "when"!

Go for it Norm!!! Jag all it takes is a impact and you can have it apart in a few hours .Believe it or not i started yesterday at noon and just shot the paint on the frame. Im considering new fenders mine had alot of rust and bondo. The color i used on the chassis is well? I use Shrewin Williams automotive finishes and it is a Westhane color used on some comercial vehicle.Westane is like Imron and is as hard as any paint ive found. Come on Whiskey get that paint gun out and start shooting. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
