Can someone tell me what this filter is on my Massey 135. I cant find any reference to it in the manual. The lines run into the transmission housing so I suppose it is an hydraulic filter.
I do understand that the Hydraulic filter is mounted inside the housing. Is this an addtional external filter and is it factory standard?

The case is of aluminium construction. I have attached a picture.

Thanks

Filter for the multipower I believe.

I can't see a multipower filter in the parts book but there were 3 different oil cooler filters listed (which this looks like), used on the UK built 135's. However the pipe returns backwards rather than going forward to an oil cooler so I'm assuming yours doesn't have a cooler. It's possible that either yours never had an oil cooler or it was removed later.

There where MP filters on the 135, and they are placed on the side og the engine.

There are 3 oil cooler filters listed in the parts book:
The first doesn't mention that a cooler is in some cases not fitted (up to SERIAL NO. 85531). View attachment AGCO_819535_408_Page.pdf Element 191855M4
The second mentions cooler sometimes not fitted (from SERIAL NO. 85531) View attachment AGCO_819535_412_Page.pdf Element 1862918M91
The third also mentions cooler sometimes not fitted (Micronic Filtration) View attachment AGCO_819535_416_Page.pdf Element 1866010M91

Looking at your picture of the housing, it has a stepped top part, that looks like the second filter above shown in the diagram.
Also, item 92, tube, on that page, is the only one of the three filters to show this tube and it looks the same as yours.

Thanks guys.

I believe now that it is the Multipower filter. However apparently if this was the multipower filter there should also be a oil cooler which was typically used with a front end loader attachment. My loader might have been removed. I also checked with a local dealer and he suggests that Massey used 3 possible filter versions in this filter housing. I will need to remove the filter as to order the right one

I was also told that if I have the multipower filter, I also have a another filter in the housing as well as the other standard hydraulic filter in the housing on the pump. To gain access to this second multipower filter I need to split the tractor. I was told that access to these filters is not possible through the PTO cover. This makes no sense to me. I cant see how the multipower filters would have led to a redesign of the filter on the hydraulic pump that is normall accessed through the PTO cover. I am on a steep learning curve here and will figure things out slowly since I dont want to screw anything up.

I will drain and flush with diesel and document and take some pictures to try and get to the bottom of these filters. Thanks again for the help and PDF's Stan33.

Thanks, I will print these PDF's out. That tube does look exactly the same as what is on my tractor. I will be working on this soon so will be able to provide some feedback on these filters. Now that I look at your PDF's it looks like the loader oil cooler has been removed. The tube is just a continous loop meaning that I probably dont need the filter. I will verify this when i get time.

For some reason, it seems that on some tractors when they fitted multipower, they didn't fit an oil cooler. The oil cooler wasn't related to a loader, it was for general cooling of the transmission oil whether or not a loader was fitted. Yours filters but doesnt cool, but at least it filters, then the oil goes straight back, so you do need it. I am almost certain that the filter you need is 1862918M91 S.40882 Coolant Filter

PS: You dont want to be splitting the tractor to fit a multipower filter...wait till something big needs fixing:)
