130 degrees in Death Valley

I remember visiting Death Valley several years back.....it was only 126 degrees the day I was there. Cooled down to a comfortable 103 at night.......too hot and very miserable.......:thumbdown:

Yep it got its name for a reason.

When we did a motor home trip in 2011 to the Pacific by way of Yellowstone and back by way of the Grand Canyon I was in awe thinking what folks from back East must have through when their wagon trains made it to the Rockies and beyond. The fact they even made it to the west coast by wagon impresses me to no end.

We are looking at a few days coming up with highs of 78 and nights in the upper 50's but that does happen sometimes around the 4th as typically that can be a rainy week in west KY. Even before the era of tractors the farmers looked of a 4th of July rain to finish off the corn growing season but they tried to have it planted by March 15th back then.

The news said the world record is 134 set in Death Valley 1919.

It's "dry heat" because after 5 minutes in it you're dried up like a prune!

Like sticking your head in a hot oven. It's better than us, 95 or better with high humidity. Now that's miserable.

I had a manager in Las Vegas that use to make the "dry heat" comment when it was well over 100 degrees......I use to tell him that sticking my head in an oven also provided a dry heat.... but I didn't like that either. It's pushin 90 degrees up here in the Pacific Northwest today.....way too hot!!
