I have been reading through a lot of threads on this and need a bit of help. I want to add a rear facing camera on my Bobcat to watch my cutting progress and baler (possibly a front one too), and most important safety. I have found magnetic mounts so I can move a camera although if the camera is good enough (can be focused or adjusted) mounting to the ROPS will work. What I don't know from reading is what Make and models are good that are waterproof as I don't have a cab. Also helpful are what brands or models are junk.

Folks mention brands, but not the details I am looking for like is the monitor waterproof. I google the brands and have numerous choices ,TMI in many cases as I don't know the lingo:confused2:. Which are wireless, do they need a second battery, and which ones need a cable and what cable to use.

I know from various cell phones that some screens are good in sunlight and some are junk like mine  I don't have a cab or shade so this is important.

So I am asking this to help myself and others. My loving son wants Santa to get me one, but needs to know what works and can get wet.

Please post what make and model camera and monitor you are using, and Pictures of the set up, especially for waterproof models and if you can, a link to the product.

Thanks for the help:thumbsup:

I don't have a setup yet but have been doing some research. I don't have a cab either and I know there are some marine monitors out there but seem to run from 2- or $300 on up. I think I will try a Ziploc bag first and maybe move up to a Plexiglas case with some ventilation in it later. Can't justify that kind of money first time out.

Part # 251-4157 Display
Note: The display can be ordered with a display cable assembly that is either0.5 m (1.6 ft.) or 4 m (13 ft.) in length.
Part # 251-4160 Camera and Camera Holder Assembly
Caterpillar have a camera system which is color and works very well. Multiple cameras can be connected.
Call your Caterpillar dealer, they have kits which include everything required to mount the WAVS, (Work Area Vision System)

That might be great if you have $5,000.00 to use. The monitor is $1,717.95 alone.

For the camera, for your application, you need a low angle field of view.

For 'waterproofness' look at the IP rating. If the gadget doesn't have an IP rating I would be suspicious. IP 66 or higher should do you just fine. Take a look at this thread for explanation on IP ratings:

IP - Ingress Protection Rating

I have the AgCam system, but can't give you an honest review as I haven't installed it yet.

I bought it on the recommendation of another TBN member who had nothing but praises for the system. I saved a bundle by buying it off Ebay from someone like me who bought it and just never hooked it up. I'm hoping to have enough time over the winter to actually get it hooked up.

blackdog,...I'm impressed with the Operating Temp. -45°F~150°F (-42°C~66°C) of this cam, I checked out the site but it doesn't state the price, so my question to you is what did you pay for yours?

Ebay said like $1400.
Entertaining that systems range from $50 to $2000+.
I'll be watching this thread, but I'll be doing something like 94BULLIT (and others) for $50.
Replace it every year, if needed. =)

$500 for one camera, a 9"monitor and all the wiring harnesses. I could've gotten a second camera for an extra $150 when I bought it and I stupidly passed it up. It would be nice to have one for the loader and one for rear view since the monitor allows you to run up to 4 cameras.
