So, I've purchased a RAM 2500 with a Cummins diesel and a GVWR of 10k. I need a trailer to haul my Bobcat E50 (approx weight 11.5k). I'd prefer a gooseneck but can go either way. I've found a couple of trailers with 15k ratings and 12k payloads but they're bumper pull so I'm asking you fine folks to let me know of any trailers you would recommend for this application.

Thanks for your recommendations!

At the expensive but very nice end of the spectrum you could look at a Diamond-C gooseneck with 2 8k axles and ramps or a tilt deck.
For a more budget friendly trailer I would consider the following, among others, each with 8k axles:

If your only use of the trailer will be to haul the E50 I would stick with a standard equipment/deck between the fenders style trailer and a 20' or maybe 22' deck length. If you have other equipment or materials to transport I would consider a 102" wide trailer with drive-over fenders and 24' or 26' length provided you still had the needed payload.

I dont think you'll find a gooseneck that can handle it without putting you into the cdl zone. I hauled the e50 with the same truck on conventional 20ft trailer, 83" between the fenders. It fit well.

Thanks! Texas Pride is looking like a great option.

Be advised, a Texas Pride is an economy trailer, with everything economy stands for.

You need to determine how much tongue weight your truck can carry. Given the 10K GVWR and diesel engine, it will likely not be able to haul you and the 2400lbs of tongue weight for a 16K gooseneck. Take a look at the tire and loading information label on the trucks door jamb, subtract the weight of you and any passengers plus any tools or other stuff you carry including aftermarket equipment you may have installed to determine your maximum allowable tongue weight. If you think you are going to be on the edge, take it to a CAT scale in the condition your intend to tow with and subtract the weight of the truck from the GVWR to determine your max tongue load. That should help you determine if a gooseneck or bumper pull is a better fit. My F350 with a 17k GN is maxed out with my 10K mini. Only 150 lbs below the 11,500 GVWR

My payload capacity is 2820. I would not have anything else in the truck besides 350 pounds of passengers and two sandwiches for the times we’ll be hauling. I do appreciate this information. Once I get all the stuff in one place I’ll be sure to get on the scale.

Well, since you went with my Ram recommendation 😇 😇 😇 😇 I would take a look at Kaufman. You aren’t too far away from them, so you could run that gorgeous 2500 over there to pick it up :)
I think you’ll really like their trailers. I would strongly recommend their 8k axle package with 17.5” rim/tires.
I ordered mine from them in 2020 and love it. Built pretty good and saved me thousands over the big names like Diamond & PJ.

And please, we need to see pics of the new 2500!

What exactly is your new truck? Where did you get the 2820 number? My '21 2500 is only 2259. We need a picture!
