1260 HARD TO START

THIS IS MY 1ST THREAD AS A NEW MEMBER AND OWNER OF A USED 1260. I BOUGHT IT WITH A FEW KNOW ISSUES. DOES THE TACH-SPEEDO-HR MTR RUN OFF A STD SPEEDO CABLE? THE SHEATH IS THERE BUT NO- INNERS - ARE VISABLE.--- THE PRIOR STATES IT RUNS HOT IN SUMMER- THOUGH I SEE NO READING ON METER. HE TOOK SIDE COVERS OFF,SEAMS OK. I AM TAKING THE RADIATOR OUT TO GET BOILED AND PRESS CK, CURRENT NO LEAKS. MY MAIN ISSUE IS IT IS HARD TO START. I CHG'D FUEL FILTER AND STARTS SOME EASIER, BUT STILL AT LEAST 3 SUSTAINED CRANKS, THEN RUNS OK THROUGH RPMS. -- I'M THINKING OF ORDERING A FAN FROM JACKS SMALL ENG. ARE THER ANY GENERIC FANS AVAILABLE OR OTHER PARTS HOUSES TO GET FROM? I ALSO NEED A RH TAIL LIGHT LENSE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPECIATED. THX RON S

Spray some oven cleaner on the radiator between the fins and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then hose it off. The gunk will flow out like you have never seen and you won't have to take it out or to the shop. If a lot does comes out do it again. Are you using the glow plugs to start? If you are and it is still hard to start, they are more than likely out or one or two are. I would change the fuel filter if it hasn't been changed. opps I see you did change the filter.
