1220 Information

All,

Recently purchased a 1220 with a belly finish mower and custom fabricated front plow mount with an ATV plow on a winch. 740 well taken care of hours. Not a speck of rust on the tractor or mower. Got it for 3000 (steal IMO)

I cut a 2-3 acre field a few times a year with it and I'm going to plow the driveway in the winter.

I don't have much information on it other than a serial number of UC24912, which I can't find for the life of me online as to which model year it is. Any help with that would be beneficial. My questions thus far...

From what I can see, 5-40 engine oil?
Where can I buy parts for this tractor? Any good websites?
Looking to get a brush hog attachemnt eventually - is a 48 inch as big as i should go?

Partspring.com is a good parts source as well as any local dealer. Tractordata.com should be able to help with your serial number. You really should get the owners manual. It will answer 99% of your maintenance questions.

On the brush hog, 48" would be the max...and that is if it's a lighter duty one like King Kutter. Heavy duty ones, even in 48", can get pretty heavy.

I have, and still use a 1986 1210. Great little tractor for jobs that you don't want to make a big foot print. I also have a 1710 but don't mind using the 1210 for a lot of projects.

I agree with sld...48 inches max on the brush hog. I really like my 1220, but had to buy a bigger tractor for a 5 foot rotary mower. Finding a use 48 inch brush hog is not easy (I've tried!) -- you can buy a new one but they are expensive.

For engine oil, I use 10-30. The manual does not specify a suggested oil, and just gives the usual breakdowns of oil vs temperature you will be using it.
