I have 2 spraying tanks and pumps, one for herbicide and one for insect spray. It seems I have to replace at least one of the pumps every year and it's getting tiresome, used to use FloJet pumps but they are no better now than any other brand. Anybody know of a bulletproof 12v brand of pump that has some longevity?

I have a Fimco 25 gallon ATV boom sprayer that uses a 12v pump, about five years old. I have never had a pump failure due to the motor, but had to replace the diaphragm/check valves on the original pump after the first year or two (or three), which Fimco supplied for free. Also, I may have gotten a free replacement pump from them the first time around ..... don't recall ...

Last year I went to use the unit and the pump again wouldn't build pressure ..... I purchased a replacement "Gold Series" (Fimco) pump at TSC with the extended 2 year free replacement warranty. It worked fine this year after pulling it of storage - I just got done spraying the lawn (100 gallons of Trimec 899) and doing the edging (50 gallons of Roundup)

The chemicals tend to attack the rubber materials and are hard to fully clean off apparently. You might try replacing the diaphragm/check valves if you are not experiencing a motor failure:

While I am thorough about cleaning the unit after every use (repeated flushes, Nutrasol, etc.) I am pretty bad about prepping it for winter (RV anti-freeze) .... which might be part of the problem.

I am in the spray business and have used FloJet for years. I have never had to replace anything but one pressure switch.

Most "cheap" pumps, I include anything made by Fimco in that, will be made to last a short time. They do not have Viton seals in them and the diaphragm will be crap...pardon my French.

Most occasional users fail to do simple maintenance. The solvents in a lot of chemicals, particularly insecticides are hard on seals and diaphragms. After you spry run clean water through them use plain old fashioned antifreeze, not RV antifreeze and put enough in tank to pressure up and spray a tad. AF has fish oil in it and it cleans as well as lubes plus keeps your flexible parts flexible.

I do this with my big sprayer as well as with the electric pump outfit I have.

ditto on running fresh water through the pumps after using them. The metal parts are not high quality and corrode over time.

I find myself to be too busy to watch the forums on TBN like I would like to but often refer to this site when a problem crops up since there is much wisdom shared here. I have a 25 gallon Fimco trailer sprayer that I have been using for 7-8 years and I have had to replace the diaphragms once or twice. It was doing a sorry job of building pressure this morning but I wasn't planning to take the time to fix it as there was hardly enough time to do the spraying; the gauge is no good but I was able to judge by the lack of a fine misty spray.

I decided I would see if I could find a deal on a new pump since this one has some age and then when i wanted to spray I could spray. I read through a couple of these threads and reassured myself that I had always been careful to flush the sprayer with clean water. Finally my point. I noted the inline strainer and opened it up to find a real mess. Sprayed it out with the hose and was ready for a test run in 5 minutes. The spray output was restored to like new. My maintenance had been incomplete but thank God for an easy fix. I'm sure you guys all know where the strainer is but in case anyone can benefit from some guidance, here's a picture.

Oh man, that is to easy. Mine is located on the end of the pick-up tube at the far end of the tank. I have to stick most of my arm in the tank to get to it.
