110V A/C Winch?

Have any of you had experience with a 110V AC winch? I need one as an extra set of hands when I build my house and barn. Warn makes one, but you have to hold the trigger to use it, which might not always be convenient, plus it puts you directly in line with the cable if it breaks (ouch). The only other cheap one I found is at Harbor Freight. I'm going to use the winch to haul plywood up to the roof, stand up trusses, and stand up walls. I've done this before with a 12V winch, but I don't want to have to deal with a battery all day. Any thoughts?

I've used a cheep HF type winch for years just to lighten the load on things.. The only thing you want to keep an eye when you pick one out is the attachment points.. In order to pull straight without the winch pulling off sideways,,

I really doubt you will find anything you don't have to press a button or hold a trigger to operate. That is just a safety issue. I have a 12v that has a wireless remote control which is nice but still have to press the button to operate the winch, but still, the smart man stands off to the side. I wish I had it when I hauled trusses up.

My neighbor has one. Don't know the brand but he says he bought it at a power company auction. I used it once to pull tension of a tree leaning the wrong way that I wanted it to fall. Neighbor kept tension on tree as I cut. As he saw the chain get slack he took up tension with the winch and it fell right where I wanted it.
His 110V winch has a chain that goes around whatever you are going to use to hold the winch. In our case we chained it around another tree in the direction we wanted to pull. Then once plugged in you run out the cable. His has about a 10' lead for the controls. The cable hooks to my chain which was 25' up the tree I was taking down.
Any winch with a remote lead cord should work for you. You could use a 12V winch, just keep the battery hooked to a charger. A 110V winch would eliminate hauling a battery up on the roof.

I know you have to push a button; I'd just rather be able to stand to one side. The Warn winch has a handle right on it like a power tool trigger. The others have a wired remote so you can stand safely to the side. I doubt I'd come even close to using the full power; probably a few hundred pounds max. I have a 2 ton overhead hoist, but it weighs about 150 pounds!
