Any 110 owners install the skid plate themselves? I have one on order from my dealer, and was wondering how difficult it is. I must have run over something, and found a dent in one of the hydraulic filters. Not serious, but it reminded me that others on here had recommended them if using off the road.

Looking for any tips, or tricks.

Thanks

Mine came with it in place but I would recommend using two floor jacks to raise it into place and bolt on.

After discussion here on TBN - I ordered the skid-plate with my 110, too. Very glad I did... I've found myself "bellied up" on stumps, berm piles, gravel and snow mounds more than I'd like to admit! Would hate to imagine the problems I'd have without that belly pan!

It is a bit awkward to take on and off. I've done it 2-3 times now with just one floor jack (and a good cement garage floor).

I use a 2' long chunk of 2"x12" and center the floor jack under the belly pan with the 2"x12".

That helps to balance the weight and length of the belly pan without having it fall off the jack.

AKfish,

Just curious as to why you needed to remove it. I understood it had access doors built in to allow service. Maybe I dreamed that part. Thanks for the info.

Well... I'm pretty **** about maintenance! And it's a major, PITA to change out the larger sump hyd filter with the belly pan in place.

The ABSOLUTELY only hint of a problem I've had with my 110 is a "chirp" and surge in the steering hydraulics. It's been there since the tractor was "new outta the box" and it's still ongoing - although maybe not as significant, lately.

Nonetheless, I've probably changed both hyd filters 2x more than the manual recommends for the number of hours on the tractor - ~ 830 hrs, now.

If you've ever changed out the sump filter WITHOUT draining the transmission first.... and had to scramble getting the new filter on without taking a major BATH in hydraulic fluid -- well, you'd know why I've dropped the belly pan, first!

The access hole/plate is just fine for the smaller, hydraulic filter. But that big, honker is bad news... and a giant mess!
