Better late than never,
Shifting from High to Lowmultipower or from Low to High multipower is done on the mov
SAFTY TIP DOWNHILL = HIGH Multipower at ALL times (Low multipower = free wheel or "gearbox full of neutral" when going downhill.) If you forget to shift up, and start to free wheel, DON'T hit the brakes, UPSHIFT the multipower, and THEN brake as required. If you are caught badley, then drop the attatchment for extra drag and keep you straight.
Next newby trap: In forward gear facing uphill in high multipower, stopped and you go to change out of gear but the stick is JAMMED!!!. No it is not jammed that is a "hill hold" feature so you don't roll back as you let the clutch out. Shift into Low multipower to "unlock gearstick". NOTE, Make sure the brakes are on or you will roll back.
2nd Note: you get the same effect in reverse facing downhill as well.
DON'T use it to stop, it is not designed for that sort of abuse.
Longevity tip: got from MF mechanic, pull diff oil dipstick and file a new "high" mark 1/2" above the factory mark, especially if you have a loader fitted and/or operate in hill country. Multipowers love plenty of oil.
Generally run in high mulipower.
When operating under heavy load expect a solid clunk when you downshift.
Have fun.
