10 hour grease job question

So I have 10 hours on the bx2380 and the manual said to lube the loader and I believe other fittings as well. Is that something that is strongly recommended or more so if you do heavy leader work?

Also any specific grease gun or will any one work and what grease should I use?

I treat that as approximately 5ish hours of any actual loader work (heavy or not). Doesn’t make much sense to grease the FEL every 10 hours if you’re just mowing. The treadle peddle fitting (under the floor mat) should get greased regularly. I believe that’s the only one that’s actually on the tractor.

LockNLube couplers will be your new friend. Any grease gun will work, but you will be looking at purchasing an electric or pneumatic after you hit all of them for the first time.

Kubota Moly Lithium is what’s recommended in the manual, and that’s what I use. I’d rather not give a dealer an easy out to blame something on me.

For pins and bushings as was mentioned always use a grease that has moly, I use the 238 Schaeffers with 5% moly. Do not use moly grease for bearings that have rollers inside. Totally agree with the lock and lube , best 30.00 u can spend. As for the grease gun I've bought many over the years including a Milwaukee cordless electric, unless you've got a Lot of greaseing to do I wouldn't recommend that. Milton pistol grip with a selector for either high pressure or high volume has been in my opinion a standout gun for the money. Bout 28$ on the big Amazon is a bargain. In fact I'm going to order another now that I'm thinking about it.

Pistol grip guns suck. Get a lever with just a piece of pipe then the coupler. 10hrs would be a max when using the loader.

I have a Dewalt 18v Grease Gun. I was on the fence for a long time, but I’m very pleased that I finally took the plunge. I was already married to Dewalt’s batteries, so that’s the primary reason I went Dewalt.

After 38 years with various types of manual grease guns - my new Dewalt 18V grease gun is a dream. I have a Lock 'N Lube unit. Do not use it any more. It will not go into the few recessed fittings on the tractor, FEL, grapple & rear blade.

For whatever reason - I don't get quite as greasy using the new Dewalt grease gun. It almost makes greasing a pleasure. I use a Moly-Lithium grease bought at either O' Reilys or NAPA.

I go by the hour meter on the tractor for when to grease. If you try to keep track of time for the tractor and each & every implement - it will drive you crazy.

I don’t know why you’d want a lock&lube with a battery powered gun. The whole point was to free up your second hand to pump. In any case they don’t get along good with my backhoe. A Dewalt cordless and stock coupling for me. It’s actually a better than average coupler. I’ve never had it fail to work on a grease fitting that’s not damaged.

Whenever i`m done with any of my equipment, i hit them with grease after i`ve used them.
That way they`re stored with fresh grease and flushed clean and already lubed until the next time i need to use them.

My reasoning is, i just hook stuff up and go, no worries and no wasted time because i already did a pre-check an lube when i parked the equipment.
Yup, kubota moly grease. No worries using their oils-filter-lubes. (warranty reasons)

Kubota pistol-grip grease gun is what i use. (good exercise for the hands!)
I`d like a cordless one but i dont feel i need one.

4570man - I used the Lock 'N Lube with my manual lever gun. Never tried it on the DeWalt. The coupler on the DeWalt is smaller diameter and nicely fits the exposed and recessed zerks. I NEVER grease just prior to use of any equipment. With Nytrl gloves I still get enough of the black stuff on me - don't need to transfer to the steering wheel or seat.
