10-10-10 question

I was just wondering, I got a a bag of 10-10-10 fertilizer. the person said it was good for evergreens. would it be good or bad for a lawn?

Should be good...

10-10-10 is a "general purpose" fertilizer...

Yep, I use 10-10-20 granular fertiliser. works for me!

you can buy a soil test kit at Lowes for about $12 that will tell you what you need to add, a little more scientific than just throwing something out to say you fertilized...

I use 8-8-8 or 13-13-13 for just about everything including the lawn. I've heard people say that you should use 3-1-2 fertillizers for lawns because that's the chemical composition of the grass but you know what? ... my lawn (yard) doesn't seem to kmow the difference. It's a bit like my dogs, it just wants fed, doesn't matter what, just feed me!!!!!!

I've bought and used a lot of triple 13; never bought any triple 10, but if it were cheap enough, or free, I'd sure use it.

Triple 10 is good, but won;t last long. It also depends on grass type and time of year you're applying. You don't want to fert when grass is not actively growing. In other words, don't fertilize Fescue in Summer. You can apply a slow release fert, but still taking a chance.

I use 18-24-12 in early Spring and fall for Fescue and late Spring/early summer for Bermuda.

I get lawns tested at Lesco (now John Deere Landscapes) for $6.
