I need 1/4" OD diesel rated fuel line for the injector return lines. I went to our local John Deere store but got a blank Homer Simpson stare from the idiot at the parts counter. He said they don't carry fuel line that small. When I asked him what they use in their service department he said he had no idea. None of our parts stores carry anything smaller than 1/4" ID which is too big. As a temporary fix I cut some two inch strips of 1/4" air tubing used in aquariums and inserted those strips into the 1/4" ID fuel lines from Autozone and clamped them but i'd rather redo all of the lines with the right fuel line. If anyone has a link to the right stuff I would greatly appreciate it.

Looking at that info it shows the inside diameter to be 1/4" which would be too large. I believe the 1/4" OD (outside diameter) hose has an inside diameter around 1/8" which is very small. I inserted the 1/4" OD air hose into some 1/4" inside diameter fuel line I purchased from AutoZone as a quick fix. The fuel line and connectors on the injectors and the "T" fittings are very small. The aquarium hose would work perfectly if it could stand the heat and fuel but I doubt it would hold up. Both my 3700 and F20D have this same size hose that return the fuel from the injectors to a 1/8" x 1/4" type of fitting and then back to the tank.

I hope this makes sense. It's very small.

I have a DitchWitch 3700 with a Deutz F3L1011F 3Cyl and a Yanmar F20D 3 Cyl. Both tractors have the exact same size return lines so I was hoping this would be more common. These fuel lines are not the larger supply line rather the smaller return ones. The main thing is the lines cannot be clamped so they need to fit nice and snug.

Is that a JD part # also? My local JD outfit has absolutely NO customer service skills whatsoever so I try not to go there if at all possible. I know some JD tractors have Yanmar engines so I would think the service department would replace these from time to time. The guy at the parts counter couldn't get rid of me any faster.

Yes the numbers I posted are JD PN's. Being a retired/retarded EX JD parts person I kinda know how to look up JD parts. The last PN I posted was off a JD 950 which is built by Yanmar.

Go to your local small engine repair shop and get some Tygon gasoline hose. It comes in many very small sizes. I
keep about 4 sizes in stock around here cuz I work on a lot of small engines.

The 1/4" soft PVC air lines that you used are OK for a while, but will harden up eventually. Diesel
fuel is easier on most plastics vs. gasoline.

Thanks, Jim.

My JD closed at 12:00 pm today so I'll stop over Monday and see if the parts guy has time to look it up for me.

If not, I'm thinking something like this maybe...

Premium Quality Tygon Fuel Line 1 8" ID x 1 4" OD by The Foot 695541 | eBay

Below is a pic of the different hoses. The small unmarked black hose is the original. Above that is three hoses connected together. The smallest to the left is 1/8" max power fuel line inside the 1/4" aquarium hose which is inside the 1/4" fuel line I purchased from AZ. The 1/8" max power hose is too small but it fits inside the 1/4" air line which makes me think that 1/8" ID hose is what I need. I tend to over think things.

Your post came in as I was responding to Jim. I went ahead and ordered a few different sizes from the ebay seller that I linked in my response to him. I live out in the Country so it's easier to order stuff than to try and find it an hour away.

Thanks.
