I think the 3400 is a better deal. I do know you should be able to knock a few hundred off though. I got a quote for a friend and the difference was only $800.

The L3400 will be worth it only if you need more HP at the PTO.

Its never going to hurt to have a few extra HP at the PTO. IMHO, try to narrow the price down a bit further and go for the extra PTO HP.
You will probably get a good chunk of that back at trade in time - or whenever you sell - even 10 / 15 years from now.
