My uncle was using his '03 Simplicity Conquest 1844 when all of the sudden the battery/ alt. light came on on the console. All cables seem tight, connections good. The maintiance free abttery is on it's second season. Trying to charge it now to finish the lawn? Is this likly the battery or the generator? It is either the generator or perhaps more likely the voltage regulator , which basically means when its running its getting its spark strictly from the battery not the generator...which causes it to run down rather quick...
