Came across a thread that mentioned, AT ONE TIME, some years ago, that .023 fluxcore wire was manufactured and available for the fluxcore and/or Mig/Fluxcore welders. Thought I would check this out with the Forum to see if there was any credibility to this? If so, would like to know if it may be available and where it could be found?? Just a thought! Thank you very much for your thoughts concerning this matter. KK USAF 62-66

That helps .. Kevin! Really just trying to get some feedback on why it is not available? For awhile I thought the question might be too tough for Our Forum to handle :) . Thanks for taking the time to help! KK USAF 62-66

I have personally never seen .023 fluxcore. Heck lots of the weld wire manufacturers do not even make .030 fluxcore. Seems .035 is the most commonly recommended flux core. (Do remember: Flux core wire has a small hollow core in it so 0.030 is really more like .020 after deducting the hollow part. The .035 is more like .025 after deducting the hollow part. If the wire gets too small then it does not have enough ampacity capacity to carry the electricity. Too small of wire it will simply vaporize instead of carrying enough electricity to perform the weld job. Lots of laws of physics to overcome so it is not always as simple as making something smaller or bigger for that matter. Each welding process has its strengths, weaknesses, and limits).

My Lincoln SP-135 (115 volt) only has a sticker chart for .035 flux core listed on it. I believe even Lincoln did not offer the .030 flux core for sale for quite some time although I do believe they do sell it now. My experience is such that I actually like welding with .035 flux core better as it is easier to see the puddle. That said I sometime run out of oomph with the .035 wire (my little 115 volt machine especially on an extension cord) so I almost always exclusively use .030 flux core in it even though I like it less than .035 from a userability standpoint. Going with .030 also helps regain some of the thinner metal welding capability that is lost with the flux core process as compared to mig.

I am a back yard hack so using my 115 volt wire feeder (typically with .030 flux core) on metal 1/8" less or so and then using my 230 volt stick welder on metal 3/16 thick and thicker gives me quite a range of capability for a bargain basement investment in tools.

The little hobart 125 used .023 flux core back when I had one. Tractor Supply might have the wire. I havent looked for it for a long time. Welded good up to 1/8 sheet metal if I remember correctly.

Not much of an answer to the question, more of an editorial.

To the OP:

I checked around, and I don't think this is made or available in the US. It's a product that there really isn't a market for.
