00 grease

I am using this in a woods gear box and has not leaked out. Had been using gun grease and 90wt until I replaced that this summer.

i have used both 0 and 0 ep greases in many applications from gearboxes on mowers ( even some made for grease! ).. to older mowers with weeping seals. Also in steering boxes.

I've not used that brand.. but IMHO. the weight is the important part.. check to see if it is EP.

Me 00 i use is a stens product similar to a snapper 00 grease used in rear ends of some lawn equip.

JD makes a corn header greas 0EP as well.. sold byt he tube or case. as stated.. used in corn header boxes.

Thanks guys. It does not say ep on it or on the spec sheet, but it say's it meets or exceeds specs for JD 360 and 380 cornehead spindle grease and is appropriate for gear boxes. The price on this stuff is appealing as it was only $4.99 for a quart the last stuff my dad got was $7.99 for a tube of I think 14 or 16 ounces. Gonna give it a try as I am going though about a quart every two weeks on leakage. Replaced the seal twice and not gonna do it again.

Where are you guys finding pour able grease. I've checked the car parts stores, and Tsc, even walmart, but haven't found any. Do you Have to go to an ag/equipment dealer?

if it's a replacement for jd cornhead grease.. it is likely at least mild ep. jd ch grease is a NLGI 0 EP poly urea grease

This is from TSC. This was not with the oil or grease, it was in the trailer bearing section.

i'll have to see if my tsc carries it.

currently i pay about 7$ a quart from the lawn mower repair place down the road.

I have a Ford-917L flail mower that leaks 85w140 all most as fast as you pour it, so I'll have to look in the trailer section of a couple local TSCs.

that fast? i might go 50/50 with #2 gun grease, and 0 ep...

sounds like not a worn seal.. but LACK of a seal!
