'00 4200 SST vs. '03 4210 eHydro

I'm looking for some opinions - I am looking at trading in my current JD for a different model.

What I have - '00 4200 SST w/800 hrs, 420 loader, 60" deck

What I'm considering - '03 4210 eHydro 1280 hrs, 420 loader, 60" deck, 513 rotary cutter.

My 4200 is in great shape - my primary reason is wanting to get into the hydro. I spent 15 minutes talking to the "chatty" previous owner of the 4210 and he had nothing but good to say about the condition of the machine.

The 4210 has had the recall work done on the hydro.

I need to come up with about 5k for the trade - sound reasonable or way out of line? Outside of the hours - the conditions are very similar.

As far as what a "good deal" is, only you can be the judge IMHO. But I can tell you that you will enjoy the E-Hydro tranny very much. Since you mentioned "trade", is this through a dealer?

Yep - trade in at my local dealer. I bought the 4200 from them 4 years ago and don't have anything but good to say about them.

My only hesitation on the deal is the 480 additional hours on the 4210. In talking to the previous owner they didn't sound like they were abusive hours - but they were still hours...

Glad to be back on TBN - I was an avid user a few years back - then my other hobbies took over I'm still cursing the inventor of RC Car racing

Most of my tractors use is supporting our local offroad race track - stupid little cars !!!!

I just bought a 4210 Ehydro and have had Shuttle shifts on Kubotas and have to say I really like the Hydro. The only problem is that the hydro, it robs horsepower. You will notice a definite deficite especially in 4WD.
