I have never seen this spreader discussed here. I needed lime and couldn’t hire anyone to do it. They refused. Said my terrain was no good. I had previously driven 3 hours round trip to rent a tow-behind spreader. Our local southern states just got a similar new spreader but they want you to buy pelletized lime to use it. That would cost $160 per ton. I just had 40 tons of ag lime delivered for $1027. Pelletized would be $6400 plus the spreader rental.

I put up a video about the delivery of this spreader.
New Lime Spreader delivered. Moving company beat it up. Time to disc the fields. - YouTube
A total pain and they showed up late.

And on Labor day i shot a video of the first use

Sides spread-all multipurpose spreader. First use spreading lime and manure. - YouTube.
I will be putting more videos out of it’s use. We spread manure yesterday and about 15 tons of lime today. So far I am pleased with my purchase.

Also. In trying to post this, I somehow selected mid mount mower as a category But was trying to find spreaders.

I have a Sides Spreader primarily to put down bulk Ag Lime. Had it about 3 years now. Works fine and has paid for itself in lime costs savings vs bag or pelletized. It is best to put it down as soon as it is delivered. I stored some under a tarp for a year once and the lime was VERY wet, but it did spread it although I had some problem with bridging on that load.

The unit is very rugged and well built. Several of my fields are back in the woods and unaccessible with larger trailer type spreaders, not to mention their cost! I find the Sides to be a very cost effective alternative.

That is encouraging to hear. I really was preferring that I could get the fields spread by someone else. but I think that with everything we have to do, it will 💰 for itself pretty quickly, and the convenience of having it available when needed will only add to it. And I have almost 800 lbs of seed to spread in a few weeks.

What does one of these cost and what size tractor is necessary to run it?

There are 4 different hoppers available so it should be able to run on almost any tractor with a 3 point hitch. I was going to order the largest hopper and was advised to order one size down. Price was $6,900. Tow behind spreaders I was looking at were $5,000-$15,00 for used and fair to rough shape. I was also trying to figure out how to modify a truck bed spreader for a trailer. New lime spreaders tend to be in the upper $20,000’s and used ones in good shape seem to hover around $18,000. At least, that is my recent experience.

These look like the cat's meow for spreading ag lime.

The video I shot yesterday shows just how much can be spread quickly. I need to edit it together. It takes longer to load the spreader than to use it. I also have some spots on my property that I want to create a food plot for hunting and this should work quite well.

That's one heck of a spreader! I'd heat and bend that lever (or make a replacement) so it is closer to the hopper when closed to allow you to fully open it without extending the top link. That will give you a wider broadcast when needed.

I plan to make a new handle for it. But a few adjustments was all i needed to get it sitting flat and running as designed.

I put together a video of some more intensive use of the spreader

Something happened with the resolution so i have pulled the video to try to fix it. It is unwatchable as it was.
