My Grandfather worked for International/IH for 50+ years, and along that way he collected a wide assortment of the metal scale toys/models. We need to make room and sell some of these collectibles. Any suggestions for websites for selling and research and such? Is ebay my best option?

Thank ya

Ebay may have more exposure, but you pay for it. If you know what you want for it, and willing to hold out for it, Facebook marketplace would be my thoughts.

I'd have a tough time letting go of those if they were my Grandfathers. I have the Ertl "Letter" series, but they're only 20 years old.

You may have luck on Etsy or Ebay. Otherwise check with local antique shop to see if they would buy outright, or consign. In my area, we have a weekly sale paper "Gold Panner"; every week there are some regulars that advertise they by toy/model trains and other collectables. Maybe your area has something similar.

When I had my old Farmall A, my go-to for old tractor related stuff was Antique Tractors - Yesterday's Tractors : Parts and Online Community
Personally, I would ask there in their discussion forum.

Also, look up Farmall collector clubs. Lots of folks like the little tractors to go with the real ones. Clubs like this

There is a Classifieds here on TBN, as well as a Farmall forum. There might be interest right here on TBN.

Ive pulled close to a dozen for myself, I just don't have the room and id prefer they are enjoyed vs sitting in boxes in my garage. Winter project, just trying to get momentum going.

I absolutely hate trying to sell anything online. Too many scammers, too many questions, and then you have to deal with shipping and getting paid for it.

If I had old tractor models, I think that I would look into the local Antique Tractor Shows in the area. See if you can rent a space, set up a table, and put everything on display. I can't think of a better location then a group of guys with a bunch of antique tractors and the people that pay to go look at them!!!

I participate in a lot of auctions in the NY southern tier and north/central PA area in person and on-line.

Old toy tractors, implements, trucks and related (like the Ertl's) seem to sell for almost as much as the actual old tractors. It often shocks me for what they sell for.

There seems to be a collector market for them if they're name brand and are in new-in-box condition. Don't let yours go cheap without pursuing some knowledge of their value.

You might try researching some actual on-line real-time auctions. Check out Proxibid or Hibid Auctions as examples. Both are national on-line auction service providers for many local auction houses.

You can search for items similar to yours and save them to your personal watch list. Once on the watch list, you can then review what they actually sold for after the auction closes to develop an idea of actual market value.

It may take a few weeks and some searching to find similar items, although over time, you should become pretty knowledgeable.

Be careful though...auctions can be more addictive than meth!

That was my plan but our local show didnt have the swap meet/marketplace this year. Probably good since i wasn’t prepared, knowledge wise.

I’ll spend sometime this winter researching the various suggestions.

eBay is a great choice for selling collectibles since it has such a wide reach. I sold some vintage toys there once and found it pretty straightforward. You might also want to look into Etsy if your grandfather’s models have that vintage charm, as there are plenty of collectors there too. I’ve had success using Facebook Marketplace for local sales; it’s nice to meet up in person and avoid shipping hassles. For research, check out completed listings on eBay to see what similar items are going for, and consider joining collector groups on social media for tips and insights from others who are into the same stuff.

Well, I started going through the boxes today and listing a few things today on eBay. I looked at completed auctions and current auctions. I think I priced stuff accordingly, but the market will confirm that or tell me I'm wrong. If any of ya want to take a look>
