Found a John Deere 1010 Gas in decent shape for $1000. I think it is a row crop. Thoughts?

My 1010's tranny input shaft seal needs to be replaced. Question is, can I split it at the seam between the aft end of the bell housing and the front of the tranny, or do I need to split it at the bell housing/engine first. Is a 1963 1010RU, sr#33875 Thanks in advance. Hoochy

Hello folks, My 1010 will start and run for about 5 minutes then it shuts off. Had the carb rebuilt, new plugs and wires and it still does the same thing. The sediment bowl is clean and I am just not sure what else it could be?? Any ideas?? I am going to put a new coil on today...any ideas...
