    L3240 Front Axle fluid

I'm finishing my 50 hour service and noticed the fluid level in the front axle is low. I want to top it off. The manual specificies UDT or gear oil. Any idea what the factory (or dealer) would actually have put in here? I don't want to mix fluids. Sure smells like gear oil.

I got my latest ebay purchase yesterday, an Alamo flail mower. I've been looking locally for a year or so with no luck. I thought I'd post my first impressons of the machine and operation. Pics coming over the weekend. My impression of the unit is that it's a tank. Side walls look to be...

    Alamo SHD74 Blade Questions

Alamo SHD74 Flail Mower Blade Questions I just scored a used Alamo SHD74 flail mower on ebay. Paid too much, but I've been looking for months, they just aren't common in my area. Anyway, I want to order some replacement blades, the ones on it look to be pretty worn. My main use will be rough...

    Mowing  Deere #503 Mower Question

I'm looking for a used rotary mower, primary use will be brush clearing and maintaining "rough" property. My dealer has a used 503 in stock, looks to be in nice shape. I understand this is an obsolete model, can anyone tell me if it's one of the "standard", or "medium duty" mowers? (if they...

    Disable Deadman (seat) Switch?

I love my new L3240, my only complaint is the deadmans switch on the seat. In marginal conditions I want to be able to stand and see what's in front of me, or at least lean over in the seat and see just where the tires are going. The deadman's switch has shut the tractor down several times...

    Cutting Roads on Hillsides

Hi All, I have a 20 acre parcel that has a steep hill going down from the largest portion of my property down to a small lake. Going straight down, the slope is 45* plus, no way a tractor is going on it. There is an old skid trail cut down and across the slope, it's somewhat steep (maybe 15%...

    Insurance  Business and Insurance Questions

Rear Blade  7' Rear Blade with Hydraulic Angle and Offset

The title pretty much says it all. I'm looking for a rear blade that offers offset capabiltiy primarily for snow removal. Around here the country is pretty hilly, many driveways are cut across the grade (sidehill). Being able to plow snow to the low side is required, and to maintain the...

    Remote Hydraulics L3240

Does anyone have any pictures handy of the "factory" remote rear hydraulics? I'm wondering how the valve (I want 3 axis valving) mounts with the dealer installed package, and how the hoses route. My dealer wants an arm and a leg for these, Surplus Center has the 3 spool valve for a fraction of...

Solenoid valves or Manual Spools for remote ports?

I'm looking at buying a new tractor in the near future, and can't convince myself that I want to spend the money that Kubota wants for remotes. I want 3 rear remote axes, near term use will be for a rear blade angle, offset and tilt. Given that I'm not exactly loaded, I'll probably do this...
