5420 hour meter on the blink

I have a 4400 a couple of years older than yours with a defective hour meter. It works only very occasionally. Sometimes a good smack to the cowling will get it to work for a while. I saw a thread here sometime ago that suggested a bad ground connection for the dash circuitry was the problem...

JD 770 Mid PTO and Related Implements

I have all those pieces but they're for a 4400. The manual indicates the mower will work on the 4000 series tractors but I'm thinking that the 790 tractor is the same size....maybe the same chassis?? I not familiar with the 770. My rig includes mounting brackets, the shaft and a hydraulic...

    Backhoe 4310 subframe for backhoe

That's the subframe, no direct connection to the backhoe, just to stiffen the frame. The pictures above are the brackets. You need them to mount the bh with or without a subframe.

    Backhoe 4310 subframe for backhoe

I have a subframe for a 4400 sitting in my barn (not mounted). I'll try to snap a picture this weekend. I bought a new old stock 48 BH from a JD dealer and, by mistake, he ordered the subframe instead of the mounting brackets. I bought it thinking I would use it. After using the backhoe...

JD 4400 and 48 BH Attachments

Sounds great. I just hooked up my rotary tiller and looks like the bh might be easier. :) Thanks for the insight.

JD 4400 and 48 BH Attachments

Thanks Jim!! A very helpful response. The manual is particularly useful to visualize what is going on. So it looks like the two brackets bolted to the axle housings and the rockshaft brackets stay with the tractor and are not very bulky. Mounting the BH requires mainly just removal of the 3...

JD 4400 and 48 BH Attachments

I'm a long time lurker and new poster and could use some advice. I have decided I want a backhoe for my 4400 and have found a JD 48 BH with "the mounting kit for a 4400" included. I have researched this site and the JD parts catalog to the best of my abilities and I am confused as to...

JD 4400 hydro problems I need your input please.

Hillbilly, Like I said, I have a new used JD 4400. I’ve had it for about 3 months and it’s out of warranty. I think it’s a 99 model. I had the lost rockshaft filter, the loss of power going up hill and week before last problems with my fel bucket cylinders leaking down. All hydraulic...

JD 4400 hydro problems I need your input please.

Hillbilly, The rockshaft filter is a small mesh filter located in one of the connections to the rockshaft control valve. It’s under the seat and a pain to get too. Apparently JD has had some problems with it. If it gets clogged it becomes dislodged and can cause problems with your 3 pint...

JD 4400 hydro problems I need your input please.

I'm a new forum member. Just got a used 4400 a couple of months ago and have been learning rapidly. I had a similar problem. Soon after I got the tractor, I experienced a clogged rockshaft filter that is described on the forum. During the process of correcting that I noticed that the...
