Buying Advice Cab or no cab?

I am like you, in my 70's. I did not buy a tractor with a cab when I purchased my tractor 15 years ago. Now, I really wish I had a cab. But, I take care of 92 acres in East Texas with almost no trees. Sounds like you are in between the proverbial "rock and a hard place". A cab would be...

Gas string trimmer aka weed eater recommendations wanted

I've used a Stihl FS-90 for the last twenty years. It will handle anything you want to tackle. I don't like string trimmers, so I use the Stihl head that has plastic blades. Works great.

    Short Term Tractor Purchase

Now that I have a front end loader, I would never have a tractor without one. So many things they can be used for that you can't even think of right now.

    New Pasture Saplings

I agree. Remedy is a good product for brush. It also works well on fresh cut tree stumps when mixed with a little diesel to prevent any regrowth from the stump.

I have and Oregon Scientific brand for my house. I don't like it. Very hard to reset the various inputs after changing the batteries. Usually takes me about an hour - all hit and miss.

I don't know what it is but it would make a real good booger whopper. Keep it near the bed in case of a home invasion.

    Paint or Stain on Shed

If the bottom of the T-111 is within 8" of the ground, try to make is shorter. If not, water will wick up the wood and cause rot. Been there, done that. A good stain probably provides the best protection.

Caught 4 small feral hogs at a time, this morning

I live in East Texas and own a small 92 acre ranch. Hogs have torn up my pasture on several occasions. And no one in the government seems to care. If this type thing were happening in a city (versus rural areas), the government would be spending billions of dollars to find a solution...

    Back dragging: how aggressive?

I guess I have been "back dragging" for years and didn't know it had a name. I've never had a problem (that I know of) but I will try to be smarter about it from now on. Good video.

    Need Buying Advice!

I also mow 1/3 acre. Bought a John Deere 42" cut lawn tractor with V-Twin (21 or 22 hp?) Briggs and Stratton engine from Lowe's in 2007 for about $2000. Used it for 15 years and sold it for $800. Never had any problems with the engine or transmission. Had to replace some parts on the...

lowe's wrong chain saw in box

Like others have suggested, I would go back to Lowe's and talk to the manager. If that doesn't work and you purchased the saw with a credit card, file a dispute with your credit card company. That usually works.

How big of a rock/boulder can a 60 HP tractor push on relatively flat dirt?

For what it's worth........ I have a 2007 Kubota M7040 (68 hp) with 4WD. I tried to move a large rock (3 ft X 4.5 ft X 1.5 ft). Tractor wouldn't pick it up off the ground, but I got my forks under it and was able to push it where I wanted (about 80 yards).

I have no idea what to buy

I mow about 3/4 of acre. I am retired and have plenty of time to mow, so I am in no hurry. I don't use the mower for anything else. I bought a 42" cut John Deer "lawn tractor" about 18 years ago. Not a zero turn. 22 hp Briggs and Stratton. V Twin. It served me well. Never had a problem...

What is the good Chainsaw for clearing?

I use Stihl saws and have had good look with them. Their Farm Boss is a good saw. Their pole saws are good, but they are heavy. I have found the trick to easy starting is to buy pre-mixed fuel or find a gas station that sell gas without ethanol.

Used Kubota M7040. What do I need to know?

I purchased the same model in 2007 (no cab) and $28,500 is about what I paid for it then. It is the only tractor I have ever owned and although I don't use it daily (only 1200 hours in 14 years), I have worked the crap out of it. Probably shouldn't admit this, but I have used it as a...

What is Best Hydraulic Fluid for M7040HD?

I am about to perform my first 50 maintenance on my M7040HD. I have read several discussions about the Kubota UDT or Super UDT transmission/hydraulic fluids. My owners manual says to use either one. I was planning on using the Super UDT, but no Kubota dealers in my area carry it. They say it...

Happy birthday to me. I got my new M7040!

I pulled the trigger and purchased a new M7040HD (4WD and hydraulic shuttle). I took delivery two days before my 57th birthday. I love it. I have already mowed about 15 acres, moved some round hay bales and pulled some stumps. I decided not to get the canopy right now. I will get one...

    R-1 vs R-4 tires

How much does a canopy add to overall height of tractor?

Per previous posts, I am considering buying a M7040 with a metal canopy. However, the barn I plan to keep the tractor in only has a vertical opening of 103". The Kubota spec's say the tractor is 97.2" tall (overall height from the ground to top of the ROPS). Does anyone know how much height...
