What did you buy this week?

I was wondering that myself today, funnily enough. I assumed the H was for HST but the "L" remains a mystery. I have a loader. Do they all come with loaders? Could "L" stand for Loader?

Are CUT Manufacturers pricing themselves out of the market?

I am late to this discussion so this might have been said already. My experience in England is that a hot second hand market fuels a rise in the price in the new market. The second hand tractor dealers have a waiting list for them and ultimately, it pushes people to the new market because...

    First Tractor purchase advice

Hello, I am still looking for my first compact tractor (c 35 hp) and more viewings are coming up. A question which is now playing on my mind is the rear spool valves (as I think they are known) at the back above the three point hitch. How many does one need ideally? I was only looking for one...

Does anyone have any experience of Lovol/Foton tractors (made in China) which they would like to share?

    Advice for first tractor please

Many thanks for searching for me! I think it is probably going to be beyond my budget with such low hours but I shall call and ask all the same. They might have something else due to arrive soon!

    Advice for first tractor please

We live in an area known as the West Midlands. Birmingham is an hour away, Coventry half an hour and then there are smaller yet sizeable towns like Rugby and Leamington Spa which are quite close. It is pretty flat where we are. Our land slopes very gently towards the nearby river Leam and is...

    Advice for first tractor please

Interesting. I have to say though that the primary purpose for the loader is to manage a muck heap (which is in a corner of a field and not on concrete). Consequently, I don't anticipate lifting anything which is very heavy. You never know though!

    Advice for first tractor please

Hi, The rectangular bales are tied with two twines; I can lift them to about 6 feet and my wife can lift them as well but not so high. I don't know if that helps to gauge the weight. Hay can also come in round bales in England but we only take the ones described earlier. We are in clay and it...

    Advice for first tractor please

That is useful to know. I can't help but think that 30 to 35 HP is the sweet spot for me and the amount of land I have. A Case IH 695 seems just a bit too big really. the biggest paddock is 6 acres and then there is a 4 Acre, a 2 and finally a paddock of about a half an acre. I just can't find...

    Advice for first tractor please

I only have a small shed like extension to a field shelter or , if I can persuade Mrs Tharg to move the carriage, a small hay barn big enough to park a car

    Advice for first tractor please

40 does sound good I must admit. The smaller 25 would be useful running around in our smaller fields which are flat and soft

There has been some progress: I am going to see an old Nuffield 4/25 which is in good condition with one owner. I am also in contact with someone selling a international case 695...

    Advice for first tractor please

Thank you. I share your concerns about the Chinese ones. There is a company here who have been selling Land Legend (donfeng I think) and they seem to be quite popular. It is tempting due to the price. A second hand tractor with fel at c 35 hp is probably going to be 30 years old for a reasonably...

    Advice for first tractor please

Thanks for the info. We don't use round bales, just the smaller rectangular ones which are not heavy Our horses are out 24/7 so no need to get into any stables. A cab is nice to have but not essential. A ROPs is though. The thing about a 25 hp machine is the suitability for topping with a topper...

    Advice for first tractor please

Hi All, I am looking for a tractor here in Blighty (England). I am new to the world of tractors but have been looking for months so I have built up some useful knowledge about tractors in general. I only have a small equestrian place (not commercial) with c 12 acres of grazing land. I do not...
