    Buying Advice First Tractor

For non-commercial use, I'd argue the only skills needed to keep a solid 80s-90s vintage diesel tractor going are the ability to change fluids, replace filters, and find/grease zerks. That's been my personal experience over the last year and a half with my two fords and around 600 hours of not...

    Buying Advice First Tractor

Ford 1520(HST)/1620 or 1920 with SSS. You'll find that power shift is out of your price range, but on small acreages it's too handy to pass on HST imo. My daughter lost her mind when I posted the 1620 for sale after the purchase of a 2910!

How heavy should a tractor be?

The MFWD 1620 I just sold sounds like it would have been perfect for your current setup. Not a disposable plastic toy like the boomer 24 - has plenty of grunt and weight. Enjoyed it on R1s even more than turfs/R4s. No issues with moving round bales, pulling the double water wheel transplanter...

How heavy should a tractor be?

You'll have more permanent ruts than rows with a 3-4.5 ton 75+ hp tractor on one acre (or 10).

Looking to buy a yard tractor for mowing

No. Edit... I'd suggest you purchase an appreciating asset. Late nineties to now cubs(or most any other mower) are like disposable plastic silverware. Plenty of battery-electric options out there finally coming into your price range if you want modern, but don't forget about classics with value...

Looking to buy a yard tractor for mowing

[cortically controlled cough] ...spend income and time in support of and in service to the corporatocracy all the while hurting themselves and the environment instead of producing income and savoring time in service to ourselves, our communities, and our natural world. [gets off high horse] :P

    IH 1300 Sickle Mower $750

$750 IH 1300 sickle bar mower upgraded from rivets to bolts and smooth to serrated - works good. I use it to lay down cover crops, so no grassboard. I can deliver around Southwest MO / surrounding area (after payment of course) for fuel and food cost. $750

    Hearing protection

I don't get on a tractor without a set of my Elgin Ruckus (I prefer the "discord" bluetooth as it can take and make calls) earpiece/earbuds. OSHA compliant 25db noise reduction isn't the absolute best, but it's plenty for me and I forget they're there. The quality of speaker is such that I...

    Picking a first tractor

Easily maneuver in those spaces, just watch your head and exhuast :) Awesome tractor for what you have indicated it will be used for, except (sorry, a lot of excepts...) it might have emissions crap on it. If you have time to keep looking, I'd suggest avoiding emissions.

    Picking a first tractor

I wouldn't say a gear tractor is hard to use at all, in fact, my personal preference tends to be JD's power shift / Kubota's glideshift etc for most of the "farm work" I do. Wet clutch is the only option, since I'd rather not be splitting tractors every two thousand or so hours. For 5 acres...

    Picking a first tractor

A nearly identical Ford 1700 with a loader sold for $3000 two days ago near me. Granted, prices are regional and it was a good deal, but I would highly suggest you drive a tractor with a hydrostat (old or new) before spending over 5k on an older geared tractor for a 5 acre property. I'd wager...

    Picking a first tractor

So many good options, but MFWD and a front loader are absolute musts(in my opinion). HST is also worth every penny in situations such as yours, but depending on local deals can be over-riden by other factors if a glide shift or shuttle shift is on the table. For 3410 money, there are similar...

    Looking For a Ford Loader

    What's an older 3415 worth?

Fwiw, a very small time dealer just north of Diamond Missouri has one listed at $11,500. It needed a screw driver to start, but ran and shifted very well. Low hours, brand new loader (spike no bucket), and two sets of rear remotes. The great algorithm shows that he got it from Enlow without a...

    Here We Are

After years researching and a not-insignificant amount of drooling/covetousness, I am now the owner of Ford 1620 with MMM and Front Loader. It isn't the Kubota L3710 of my dreams, but like the Stones say... Anyhow, I waited a week for this introduction because I wanted to see if I'd develop...
