Did you make your splines in the shaft yourself? Did you make the mating splined hole? How many splines (grooves)? To transfer power, more splines are generally better. Matching the shaft splines to the hole grooves is also critical. I didn’t see a photo of your shaft.

I got the new pump from my local (Honolulu) repair shop, Precision Fuel Injection. They sold me an OEM pump for about the price to rebuild the old pump, way less than I could find one for. I bolted the pump on and it worked fine without any adjustment for timing. And no fuel leaks!

If I had the money, I would buy a new tractor. But the value of anything is not the dollars, it is what do you have to give up. I’d rather have an an old tractor and all the tools, a shed and all the machinery to fix it rather than just a new tractor.
