I would think if it was a safety switch your 4 way/caution lights would still work. If they didn’t work because of a tripped safety switch wouldn’t that itself be unsafe. I know on the max 26 I had the safety switches did not affect the caution lights.

You may want to disconnect and reconnect the backhoe hoses a few times. I think I had an issue where one of them wasn’t fully seated after taking the backhoe off. I also think I had an issue with the flow control knob once and had to turn it back and forth a few times to get things working...

There was a video on YouTube. Mine on my 1533 is basically in the same spot but mine did not come with a side step there but did have attachment points so I used angle iron. I believe someone here gave me the idea.
