    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@oldnslo thanks for outlining options. 1750rpms already sounds pretty wound out, I think 2600 would make my skin crawl...but I'll give it a shot. Will talk to dealer about other pump and valve options, but I doubt much success will be had. I really appreciate everyone's assistance and...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@oldnslo My 3 point will not raise when the bucket is raising or curling up. Given the above conversation (and thanks everyone for the education!), what are feasible options to increase the performance of the FEL? Do they make a higher output hydraulic pump? Put smaller cylinders in current...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@oldnslo that's some fancy maths! Based on your calcs, I think (unfortunately?) my loader is functioning properly. Lift cylinder: 18.5" travel Dump cylinder: 19.5" travel @1750RPM Raise: 9.2 seconds Lower: 4.3 Curl up: 8.0 Curl down: 5.3 I don't usually run it at 1750RPM, so perhaps I need...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@oldnslo this tractor does not have power beyond. Post #27 shows hose 3 goes from the control valve to the rockshaft. I can still place the flow meter in line here and test if helpful.

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

Not sure what block you're referring to. Maybe that was a different thread? A top potential issue of mine was air getting in the lines. I replaced all O-rings on suction side and that didn't resolve the issue. I also confirmed pressures were within spec, and most recently confirmed flow to...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

Update...I got a flow meter and am getting 7-8gpm at 2000rpm and fluid at about 60 degrees. I believe pump is rated up to 11gpm but not sure what RPM that would be at. I will let the tractor warm up and re-test in a few days. Didn't have much time tonight. This was tested by placing the flow...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

Was able to come across the manual for my valve (part 521641). See pages 41 and 42 where it appears to show 3 different configuration options.

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@oldnslo I purchased the flowmeter and fittings, waiting for them to arrive. That could tell us something. I also messaged Alo and asked if they had any literature specific to this loader and control valve. Will report back on any developments! @rScotty we also have an M5640SUD, bought new...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

I don't know what that Hydraulic Control Valve on p20 is, or if my unit actually has it. I don't think it does. Unfortunately, the screen grab is as high of quality as I could find from a circa 1998 manual. Frankly I'm to the point where I think I'll just take it to the Kubota dealer and have...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@rScotty I checked the cables (exposed them and manually pulled them to their limit) and they appear to be functioning properly. I found the attached. I have the Commercial Hydraulic valve referenced on p20. Not sure if this is helpful. I was also able to find the attached screengrab from a...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@rScotty I think it's the exact same setup. In fact, the hydraulic cylinder is the exact same part number for the M5400 and the M4900/M5700.

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

The photos are great! Now we can make some educated guesses, but because yours has power steering we probably still need the hydraulic schematic in the workshop manual for the Kubota M5400, do you have that manual? I will look for one 1st Photo: Line 1 is the "P" or pressure line coming either...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

Do those pictures help? Perhaps worth noting...there's a "sound" coming from the fill reservoir with the cap removed. Barely noticeable to the naked ear, but very clear when I insert a tube inside the reservoir and put it to my ear. The sound of liquid. Can't tell if it's a hissing, or a...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

I don't have remotes, i.e., no remote lever below 3pt lever and draft control lever. Maybe that simplifies it?? Will be sure to get proper PSI hydraulic fittings. I will re-check tomorrow, but I believe the supply and return line are plumbed directly from the pump to the FEL control valve.

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@oldnslo yes, enough space. Just have to cobble together the correct adapter fittings

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@oldnslo lowering operates normal speed. Raise & curl up/down are all 3 very slow. Thinking I'll get an in-line flow meter to test gpm flow rates. Found a good Omega on ebay for $100 OMEGA OIL FLOW METER 25 GPM 1 NPT HIGH FLMH-1025BR-HT PCCLR07536 3500PSI | eBay

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@oldnslo I have not timed flow rates. Starting at full curl up, it takes about 10 seconds to get to full curl down. My redneck math says that's very slow.

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@rScotty Yes, it's plumbed how you described, with the T in series and gauge on one leg. T is located very close to fuel filter...on the "passenger" side near loader valve. T is screwed into a welded port on the cylinder barrel very near where the rod comes out of the cylinder. Pressure is 0...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

@rScotty Gauges came in today. Pressure is reading ~2500psi. I was able to rubber tape one of the 050 o-rings (at the joint of 2 steel tubes), but no real clearance to get tape around the joint by 050 joint by the filters. Looking for air bubbles...maybe maybe one here or there, but...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

Update...I removed the fill cap with tractor running and do faintly hear a slight bit of frothing sound. Perhaps see a few air bubbles on dipstick but hard to tell (will add oil dye next week and see if it makes bubbles show up easier. Tractor doesn't have rear remote, so no detent to get...

Pressure gauges ordered. Will report back next week.

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

Thanks for the tip. Tested today and the loader is same speed (slow) regardless of 3p position. @rScotty Thanks for all the tips and diagram. I used Wix filters and Harvest King fluid meeting Super UDT specs. Is this a no-no? Fluid stays clear, no air. I see you're in CO. Whereabouts? I'm...

    Quickie loader, very slow. WHY?

On a 1997 Kubota M5400 with 800 hours. Curl up/down is slow, lift is slow, lower is normal speed, breakout force seems weak too. No leaks or leakdowns. Changing fluid/filters didn't help. I just inherited this very clean tractor and don't know a lot about hydraulics. I presume I should...

Best Everything Attachments (EA) Alternative? Landscape Rake, etc.

Thank you! A longtime lurker :) Thank you. That one is currently at the top of our list. If for no other reason, they're the closest dealer within a few hours (we live extremely remote in CO) - We do some small rock (under 4") from pastures, with occasional larger rock (get off tractor and...

Best Everything Attachments (EA) Alternative? Landscape Rake, etc.

Now that EA is out of business, what's the next best substitute for a variety of implements? Right now looking for a landscape rake and a blade that can be manually offset (to side of tractor). Quality is important, price is less important. Is Land Pride the next best thing?
