Buying an excavator with resale in mind

I’m very happy with my grey market hitachi ex100. 3500 hours. Bought for 26.5 K. Had worn bucket pin/bushings that I repaired for under 1K. Owner was known by a friend and an experienced mechanic had recently gone through the machine. Using it on 20 acres for land prep to build, removes 30”...

Owning a small tractor is a blessing.

Dogs are man’s best friend but a tractor is right up there. Speaking of safety a family friend who was beloved by all changed oil using only a jack-all. It slipped and he was crushed and died slowly trying to communicate to his wife how to operate the jack-all. She will never be the same...

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

My initial report of zero psi was due to a stuck valve. But it was very low as discovered by removing the valve. I think an important lesson from this is to check tire pressures even if they look fine. I feel very blessed to have been given the solution before tearing into it further. It...

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

Problem solved! I was having serious thoughts of removing the differential - no small job. I can only imagine doing that and being stumped - nightmare. oldnslo really did save the day - my deepest gratitude!

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

Re-posting, replied earlier but maybe didn't hit send. I think you saved my bacon oldnslo. I pulled the R axle - nothing bad. Checking L with wheel off also seems ok. I noticed taking the wheels off they are obviously filled and noticed a little drip of colored fluid from the tire bead. Could...

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

I think oldnslo may have hit the nail on the head with his not so "stupid" brilliant question! Just went and looked closer at the tires. I noted they are super heavy taking them off. I didn't know they were fluid filled when I bought it. There's a few drops of purple fluid leaking from the tire...

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

I have the R axle off. Geared arrangement with the diff lock. All seems normal. The L wheel is off and feels normal. The wheels/tires are so heavy they must have fluid and the R one is leaking a bit around the rim. oldnslo may have hit the nail on the head with his "stupid" but brilliant question?

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

Looking online not finding a downloadable service manual. Can anyone help with that? Looking for the process to change an axle.

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

It just occurred to me to check 2WD function with the diff lock engaged. I have power again with the diff lock on! So it seems the most likely failure is a broken axle shaft. Not sure how these come apart but I'm about to find out.

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

I just had the notion to check in 4wd as I was roading it in 2WD this morning when the trouble started. Well in 4WD I have normal drive power. Most of my work is in 4WD and I'm not sure how long since I used 2WD. So I assume my hydrostatics are fine and the problem is with the rear diff. It's...

B7610 sudden loss of forward / reverse power

My mid 90s B7610 has been a 100% faithful workhorse for 20 years. I don't know it's hours as the meter reads 600.7 and that can't be right assuming the last digit is 10ths. I never pay attention to it, just do annual oil changes. Today it lost forward and reverse power. It will move on flat...

Griffin Dump Trailer Issues Never Again

I will soon be in the market for a dump trailer. It would be helpful if folks posted tips for finding a quality brand.

    Are they all equivalent?

Just a note about slush. This was a horrid problem here in north Idaho as we hover above and below freezing. I say was. No more. I put rubber pads on my impeller blades to create zero gap and have zero slush plugging now. It will blow slush soup. It also throws further and if I scoop a bit of...

That’s a great looking solution. Wide tire on a beefy swivel.

    Snowblower Skid Pads for Gravel

I’d be curious to hear from anyone who has used the armorshield style on a front blower. Part of the reason for my design is quick on and off and adjusting.

    Snowblower Skid Pads for Gravel

These are common on blades. There’s a YouTube video of trying different setups on a similar snowblower and the guy was happiest with this. There’s no tilt, just up and down on this front blower. I think wheels could work but not sure how they would handle tight turns without a swivel. I also...

    Snowblower Skid Pads for Gravel

That’s a great idea. I plan to keep oil or grease on them and take them off in the off season. If it’s an issue I’ll switch to round shafts. Happy Thanksgiving

    Snowblower Skid Pads for Gravel

Here’s my mod for my BX2750D for use on a new property with gravel driveway. 3/4” rebar was welded onto circular plates and heated with a torch to form a circle. 1” square tubing slides in receivers made of 1 1/2 angle iron welded together. Three 1/4” holes 1/2” apart allow setting them 3/4”...

    BX2750D TG2754 wear edge replacement

Just posting photos of the welded cutting edge. I do 1” welds set for deep penetration spaced where the bolt holes were. If necessary a grinder could remove it in 10 minutes. The outer skid pads were also just added for use on gravel. Made by welding rebar onto a plate. Three holes for height...

    BX2750D TG2754 wear edge replacement

So it turns out flat metal comes as 2" and 3". 3 is too wide so I'll just use 2". I am curious if anyone knows what may have changed on the cutting edges.

    BX2750D TG2754 wear edge replacement

Can anyone tell me the width of a new cutting edge? It's a BX2750D. Mine is worn down to the box metal overdue for replacement. I'm planning to just buy metal and likely weld it on since this one lasted close to 10 years. I think I won't even bevel the edge as it will happen naturally. Was...

    Tractor Cab Build

I've been wanting to do this for years. When my work schedule was reduced to 3 days per week, it was time to do it. I'll post a link to the instructional video I put together. snowblower chute mods (B7610 and BX2750) install and parts

So I finally broke down and got a front blower to give my neck a break from the PTO blower (arthritis setting in). Other member here get the credit for how to do it. Hydraulic Squeal Kubota 7610 HST

Hoping someone can give me an idea what this noise is about. I'm getting an intermittent squeal kinda like older cars power steering when the wheel is cranked. It happens only when the speed control pedal is advanced. It's worst with rapid forward acceleration, but also in reverse but with a...

    PTO - loud noise

I have a Kubota B7610 hydrostatic, used mainly for blowing snow with 3 pt blower. This winter I noted some intermitted noise, high pitch like bearing going bad, figured it was a PTO shaft U joint. Heard mainly when not under load. I greased and checked PTO shaft u-joints, nothing changed, U...

    PTO driven air compressor

I'm thinking of building a PTO driven air compressor for sand blasting. My shop unit puts out about 10 cfm at 90 and its slow. Harbor Freight sells this: 145 PSI 5 Horsepower Twin Cylinder Air Compressor Pump If I manifold it with my shop unit I should have decent cfm. Anyone set something...

    Loader Valve Hose Orientation?

Hi folks. I'm replacing the loader valve on my Kubota B1550. I've found valves at Northern Tool and at Surplus Center. I think the Brand valve with regeneration would be ideal. Brand Hydraulics Monoblock Loader Valve with Regeneration, Model# PLV22RFSTKAB | Control Valves | Northern Tool +...
