Husky YTH 1542 oil drain valve won’t open

Like the title says when I insert a screw driver or use a hex wrench on the drain “bolt “, the soft plastic just deforms and doesn’t move. The manual says to push and turn the entire valve CC to open but it feels tightly bolted to the engine. Any advice? Thanks

Husky 1542 oil drain valve won’t operate

Attempting to drain the oil from this new to me mower I found that the plastic “bolt “ that opens the valve won’t move. When I put a screw driver in it and try to open it, the soft plastic just deforms. Same thing if I use a hex wrench. The manual says push and turn the entire valve CC but it...

Loader won’t respond to downward movement of joystick when heavy load on 3ph

With a 52 foot long hemlock log on the pto winch and the 3ph hitch in the up position, the loader doesn’t respond to power down. It will power up and drop when in float. When I drop the logs off the winch the loader operates normally. I calculated the log weight at about 3000 lbs total. I...

    No heat in cab

Is there any one familiar with the under seat climate control on the M6040. the heat stopped blowing hot air and only blows cold. I’m guessing that the heater control valve has failed closed. A few years ago it stuck open and I put a manual ball valve on one of the heater water lines so I could...

    Flood damage repair

You may or may not know about the catastrophic flooding w've had here over the last few days but I got the chance to do some repair to my mothers driveway after the culvert plugged and washed out the road. Alot of the washed out gravel ended up in my pond, which is usually dry[don't ask]. So I...

    No Heat

So I had the opposite of this issue a couple years back where I would get heat all the time when I tried running the AC or even just the fan. I was told I had a failed heater valve and instead of finding and fixing it, I put a ball valve in one of the heater lines and used that to turn of the...

    Chains on

Chains mounted using the “roll them on” method. No more heavy lifting and dragging. These chains were originally sized to fit my old L4630 with industrial tires so they were way too small for the M6040 with ags. I had to jury rig them to fit. the bigger, taller tires.

    Hard starting Jred 2155

Lately this little saw has been a difficult starter. Normally it would start when it popped after choking and then then fired with no choke on. Now it will almost never pop on choke and I have to pull many times with the throttle wide open, which is the method used when the saw is flooded. If...

    Loader controls won't raise loader

I was picking up a log with the loader when I felt a "pop"in the joystick control and the loader stopped lifting. I still have curl function and downward movement. I have not opened up the control cover yet. I was looking for a blow up pic of the loader system but can't locate one; anybody have...

Beet Juice filled tire leaking around valve stem

I know this is a huge PITA with the filled heavy tire. It appears that the rubber stem's raised portion that butts against the outside of the rim no longer is holding tightly and juice and air are leaking around it. I know the fix is to remove and drain the tire and insert a new valve stem...

    tilt cylinder installed

Welded a new eye on the broken eyed tilt cylinder that has been kicking around the shop for years. It is a mismatch of cat sizes to hook it on but I managed to get it installed and now just have to wait till the current crop of mud dries out to give it a test run. I also have a top cylinder but...

    M6040 fuel line I.D.

New issue, now loses prime after sitting

After I thought I had solved my no start/no fuel issue, I now find that after sitting for just a little while, it loses prime. It will chuggingly restart after a few 10 second cranks and then smooth out and run fine. I went back over all of the hoses that I pulled off and then reinstalled during...

Changed out fuel filter and now tractor won't start

    Tractor loses power

Lately, when driving up slope, the engine will lose power to the point that in order to keep forward progress, I have to back off the throttle to maintain headway. As soon as it starts to level off, power returns. Today, it also lost power on a downhill run and cleared up when back on the level...

    A little teaser

I have been lazy and complacent and have not yet put on the chains, box blade and plow but when we got a 2 inch fall last week, I had/wanted to get some snow seat time just for kicks. Driveway was not yet frozen but the snow was light and fluffy so I took it easy and left a skim. The bucket is...

    Oh no! Failed valve stem

My better judgement told me not to do it and of course that was ignored... The radio was working until one day it wasn't. It powers up, shows the stations and time but no sound from the speakers. I pulled the roof off to inspect the wiring. All connections appear intact and the antenna is hooked up. I am totally ignorant on how to test anything. Any help out there?

    Jonsered cs2255 carb adjust limiter

After years of using this saw I just took it for granted that it was just a slow revving saw and got to work...until now! I tried turning the screws in and only could move them slightly more than 1/2 turn. I googled "carb adjust limiter removal" and the examples showed an obvious plastic...

    Jammed winch cable

I went to replace the winch cable on my Norse 450 and discovered the old cable is deeply buried in the lower wraps and when I tried using the tractor to pull it free, it just about stood the tractor up on the rear wheels. So it is truly buried/jammed on the drum. I have both winch covers off...

    Thinking about a new saw

Anyone have a Husky 562XP? I am now looking at a backup saw for the old Jonsy 2171. Any feedback...
