Hiya Fred. About as well as can be expected, I suppose! I did put my machine to work recently removing a fallen treetop, and subsequently, the rest of the tree. It was a tight fit dropping that tree between the house and another tree, but squeaked it in there. Controllers are still going strong. How are you doing?

At almost 92, I've slowed down a bit. I don't know how I'll be physically able to handle the next 100 years. I finally noticed your tree toppling. Good job and you still have a house. Anyway, I mentioned to my dear wife, I'd better sell the 445C before I become star dust. Well, the machine musta heard me and said, ya think so and started popping ot of gear. More and more, unitl here I am with no Machine. After much searching, checking under the transmission cover (It looked new , good everything.), checked all connections and finally I found a loose (well kinda loose black connection on the Hanlei.) That black wire doubles over to the other Hanlei. OK, here's what the Hanlei say about this: the V & A read UUU. Below that reads the normal 0.85. I tried resetting and can't do it. I can't figure out how to reset it and hope you'll advise me. Thank you, Fred,

Hey Fred! Glad to hear you're still doing okay. The display you describe sounds like it's actually "VVV" which is the controller's indication that it's receiving less than required minimum voltage. I'd advise checking your battery voltage and seeing if it's low. That minimum voltage warning is adjustable also, with setting #6. It can be set as low as 8VDC.

eKretz, (Tractor Tech also) thank goodness many things in this life are simpler. At least we're on land, not at sea on a sailboat, what you don't know may be the end. OK, enough philosophy, it is not VVV, it is UUU, whatever that means! I don't know the proper steps to set it up. I tried multiple times, and I got slow start to 4 seconds, clicked it off then into either F or R and "UUU" returns. Hmmm, Maybe I'll try a different source for the 12V! I hafta wait until 3pm cst for the sun to create the daily shadow in my shed.
I found this:
hanlei ccm-tk what does UUU mean in the display

eKretz, I found the following. Does it mean anything to you that might assist me? I will continue to look for faulty wires. I wish I knew more about this stuff. I think I'd better try the multimeter. I'm embarrassed to not be more familiar with it.

On a Hanlei CM-T0 temperature controller, the "UUU" display typically indicates a sensor error or a break in the connection between the sensor and the controller
. The controller cannot read a temperature and displays "UUU" as a general error message.

Common causes and solutions

Sensor disconnected or improperly wired
  • Cause: The thermocouple or temperature probe has come loose or is wired incorrectly.
  • Solution: Check the wiring terminals on the back of the controller and at the sensor itself to ensure all connections are secure and correctly matched to the designated terminals.

Faulty sensor
  • Cause: The sensor itself is damaged and is no longer able to send a valid temperature reading.
  • Solution: Replace the

eKretz, I just realized that you might have Tonka any longer. I didn't mean to put you through all this, but if you have any suggestions I can jump into, (we don't have a river) please let me know.

Fred, the information you got from the "AI" search probably isn't accurate. Wrong model controller, and there is no thermocouple for temperature measurement. My paperwork for our controllers does not show any "UUU" codes, only "VVV." Is it possible that it just looks like "UUU" since it's making the letters with what amounts to a figure 8 display? Did you check the battery voltage? Did you check setting 6?
