I'm late to the party here, but yes the range chips in the OBD2 port work great. Kind pricey for just that one feature though.
If I had such a truck, I would instead be buying an SCT BDX/X4 or diablo tuner and adding some horsepower and throttle response in addition to disabling the AFM/DFM. Plus getting more gauges and data from OBD2, ability to scan and clear DTCs, etc.
That pushrod is super bent! Crazy that the engine can keep running mostly fine with just a ticking noise.
