Budget-Friendly & Durable Parking Option for My Holland 1925 Tractor

Hello everyone,

I own a Holland 1925 tractor that I regularly use on my farm in Utah, but I don’t have a proper place to park it. Right now it’s left out in the open, and constant rain, sun, and dust are starting to cause problems. I want to create a budget-friendly but long-lasting solution for parking or storage.

I’m considering a few options like:

A simple shed or lean-to structure
A prefab steel/metal shed
Converting a shipping container into storage

My priorities are: low cost, weather protection, minimal maintenance, and if possible, some level of security. I’d really appreciate advice from experienced farmers or builders — what solutions have you tried, what worked well, and what the rough costs might be.

I had a barn built about 13 years ago. It didn't seem budget friendly at that time but with the cost now it was worth every penny. Now all of my equipment and hay are stored inside. My equipment will probably outlive me.

I stored my previous tractor in a 40' shipping container for many years. At the time it was $2000 for a one trip, weatherproof box.
It worked very well, and was lockable.
I have since built a small pole barn (32x32ish) and the barn is way more convenient.

A shipping container is going to be your cheapest option, with the possible exception of a prefab shed. Depends what you mean by that. The sheds are most certainly not all created equal, but in every case that I have seen, there is a very good reason that they're as cheap as they are. Some are complete garbage. The shipping containers are ovens in the summer and condensate badly in the winter, but they do keep the snow off and they're rodent proof. A post frame shed of comparable square footage would be most convenient, but would cost the most, assuming you're hiring someone to build it.

I'd go with a small pole building. A concrete floor is nice but not essential.

Thanks for the suggestions and sharing your exprience. I think a small pole building would be the best option in my case. The shipping container idea is solid, but summers here in Utah get really hot, and I’m worried about the heat buildup and condensation issues inside.

I’m currently considering Steel Buildings Utah | Custom Steel Building Contractor or VikingConstruction for this project. Has anyone here had experience with them, or do you know of any other companies that offer good quality and affordable services?

Since I’m based in Utah, recommendations for local builders or suppliers would be especially helpful.

What's your budget? And where do you live? Utah is a big place. Folks are going to need more info if you want recommendations of local builders.
