With coyotes in specific, they have a lot of advantages; they are semi social, unlike bobcats/panthers; they arent viewed as an urgent thread by humans, unlike wolves; they do well eating many things from fawns, turkey, cats, trash, ect. They are really adaptable too, from dang near deserts, to swamps, and near semi artic to semi tropical. They also are fast breeding.

I saw a grey fox yesterday, possibly for the first time in my life. At one time they (apparently) were common, but red fox get along better with civilization.

One thing I've seen more lately, otters. Honestly, more often either road killed, or seen crossing then road, then in what I would call strictly a natural environment

Yes, that's correct. The "modern" coyote is only 10,000 years old. The coyotes migrating into Florida as much as 3 million years ago were their ancestors.
And they died out.

I saw an Otter in the river behind my house and a Bobcat was on my trailcam. Don't believe they were around here when I was a kid, 50 years ago. Pheasants and quail were around back then, not now.

My area is getting hit with EHD really bad. Read a guy post yesterday that he's finding around 5 dead deer a day around his property.

EHD? Don't know that one.

We have CWD here, and while not super-widespread yet in our area, there seems to be a lot of concern about it potentially jumping the species barrier through consumption of venison. It hasn't happened yet in nature, to my knowledge, but apparently it's been shown to be possible.

We only have a hand full of cases of CWD here with the first case reported in 2024 and are in the northern part of the state.

I believe that they are the imaginary offspring of an April Fool’s prank a few years ago.
