Kubota M59
I'm getting 2x2x6 interlocking concrete blocks delivered for a short (4') retaining wall project, and was told they are 3\4 yard and approx weight of 2700lbs.

Has anyone who's gotten these lifted them and stacked 1 on top the other with a Kubota M59 FEL?
My plan would be to use a blank 1\2" QA plate with chain hooks, or my Fork attachment without the forks, and chain straight down... so the attachment weight would be 150lb or less total.

Now, if the weight is accurate at 2700 I'm not worried, but what I'm finding online says they may way 2900-3600.

What has been your experience ?

Reading Ritchie Specs you should be fine, "Lift to full height (at pin) 3,968.3 lbs"
Remember the FEL settings are set usually by the dealer. They have been REPORTED TO ON OCCASION to set them underspec to prevent warranty repair work. So if it was set at 3,500 it might be borderline.

Interested if it works out. Run a pressure gauge on the FEL lift cylinders on a Kubota Soft Ride system on my M59. Lift pressure was couple hundred pounds less than max spec. Could probably add a shim. Still scary strong.

I've unloaded, moved and stacked armour stone in the upper limits of the M59. A good set of forks will do. On the really heavies you might not get them lifted high enough.

Thanks everyone! Once I get the BH repaired, and back on I'll give it a test... I couldn't even move 1\2 of one without the counter-weight of the BH :D :D the m59 is pretty useless lifting\moving things without the BH or some other 2000lb counter-weight. Even moving my 200lb dumpster I've gotten tipsy and it was empty... scary.

- What do I need to buy to test\review what pressure I'm currently operating at? Any guides for this?

- How do you adjust the pressure if it's low? Is that a big job?

Backhoe is repaired, and back on.... now to move some dirt and then some of these blocks!

I've not used these yet, and already found a half dozen more practical applications... so fingers crossed this works and I can build some more with these :D :D

I'm using these concrete blocks to build a storage bin for anti skid.

I chose the 2' x 2' x 4' blocks that weigh 2250#. I'm using the LA1065 FEL on my MX5800 which is rated at 2800# but it will only lift and stack them 3 high. I have a blank SSQA plate with a hook welded on it to keep the lift point as close to the pivot pins as possible. I'm also using a short lift chain.

I wanted the 2' x 2' x 6' blocks but they are too heavy for my equipment. According to the supplier, they weigh 3600#

Your M59 is rated at 3900# so you shouldn't have any trouble unless you try and lift with forks or the bucket.

I also use a backhoe as a counterweight. I wouldn't routinely lift that much with less.

Thanks for the feedback!

That's my plan too, blank QA Plate with hooks... I actually plan to dedicate one of my blank QA plates just for lifting\moving, and have 2-4 receivers on it so I can remove\add various things, and also use it to move trailers\etc if needed.

I think these are only supposed to be stacked 3 high, not that I plan to go over that... hopefully only need to go 3 tall in a couple places!

If you don't mind me asking, what do they sell for where you're at? Out here on the west coast the 2x2x6 are commonly sold 125-150$ + Delivery (or pickup), I'm only buying them in lots of 10 when they run over stock sales... :D

I paid $50 delivered but they were 2x2x4's. the 2x2x6's were $80 delivered.
I live close to the plant and bought 34, so I got a bulk price.

Another trick I do is to use an SSQA plate with a receiver hitch that goes clear through the plate. I install a drawbar backward that extends inward of the pivot pins. That way, I can lift a bit more weight. It does shorten the reach though.

That's a cool idea for the reverse connection, I'll have to make sure I can do that even if its small to account for lifting that extra weight if ever needed :D :D
