$18.75 is what's left after all expenses. ie. my pay, insurance, maintenance costs, fuel, mileage etc.
Got it!!! That makes more sense. Thank you for clarification!

I do on occasion use my tractor to help neighbors but never charge as too many pitfalls open when money involved.

Now, im not lumping all neighbors as friends and family; some are, some are just neighbors. Had a guy stop me, while mowing, and ask me to come move about 5 buckets of limerock a driveway guy left in his yard. I agreed. Took 15 minutes, and he handed me $60. I told him no thanks; and he said keep it. So I did keep it. Didn't know the guy, just lived 3 or 4 houses down.

Our road is a platted easement, serving about 80 parcels; maybe 30 homes. I will sometimes grade the worst areas between my drive and the main road; but is intentional dont do it often, so it doesn't become expected.

I find friends will make it up and then some and I’m good with that…

When I was away a couple weeks the neighbor I helped level a pad for his new water tank watched my place, watered and brought my mail in which was worth much more than a quick hour of seat time across the road…

Sad part is my 5 closest and the best neighbor houses have passed since 2021…

All in advanced age but real treasures…it’s nice to be my age and still being called the kid… those days are no longer.

Absolutely. For years now every summer I've mowed about 5 acres of cheatgrass for my next-door elderly neighbors. And cleared their driveway (about a quarter mile long) of snow whenever necessary. And I've never charged a dime even though they've offered. They have a big orchard and plant a huge garden every year...and every year they load me down with fruit and fresh veggies - plus dill pickles that are to die for. I consider that payment enough.
