A couple days ago, I had a paying job to split some wood for a guy, so I loaded up the splitter,

Yesterday we were on the job, and my nephew and me got to splitting,

We had three piles to split, and one of them I backed the splitter up, so it piled the splits right into his little barn,

But with much of the splitting, the splits got stacked into baskets and I moved them to his cabin about 3/8s mile away,

We have to go back one day this week as I have a hose that needs replacing on the splitter and a BIG oak limb to cut up and split yet!

For a guy who dislikes crates so much, you sure do use them a lot!! Ha ha. Ok I realize its not by choice, but I do find it a bit funny.

As I said above, that was a "paying job" and I'll use what ever kind of container you can dream up, IF you are paying me by the hour to use it!

The longer it takes, the more money I make...

I'll be back on that job tomorrow, but at least all the splits are going on the ground. lol

Since this thread is called Tractors & Wood, (Not technically Tractors and "Fire"wood) so I think I'm ok telling this story. I'm working on a project with my daughter and she needed a Cedar log, so we headed out in to the woods. Found our victim, started cutting my notch, threw the chain off the saw, realized I didn't have a flat screwdriver anywhere, drove back to the house, then back to the tree to continue.

Finally dropped the tree, cut my +/-7 foot log, hooked her up and headed back to the house.

Then just to make sure I got the tractor into the story, I picked the log up and cleaned it off. Its been very dry, so it was mostly dust & grass.

A species of tree I wish was common around me. I would find reasons to use it.

I had a couple of cedar rounds given to me to cut up for kindling. Split into the first round and said nope, this is too nice to burn. Made a bunch of serving trays and charcuterie boards out of it for gifts.

How many red cedars do you guys want? They are weed around here.... I used like it, now I use them as fence post or non-limbed as road blocks.
I have a giant log ~24" diameter laying near the wood pile now, might become a gate post or camp wood.

A nice pile of different sizes. Would you mind setting them right beside my woodshed too? lol
