Curious on costs...
I paid a bit over $4500 for my '99VFR . Bought from a friend and I put on the 500th mile. He Wanted that CBR900RR, and needed cash, The price was his, I just said OK ;-)
I pay $75 insurance twice a year, but suspend coverage all winter, so "less than a hundy".
I change oil and filters seasonally, never get too many miles on in a summer, family etc.
I bet I've put ten tire sets on it over these 25 years however. They go fast! Doctor says I have trouble with my right wrist, and must have balance issues 'cause I tend to lean over a LOT. ;-)
I never have worn out the center tread on any MC tire ;-)
The Honda is more an appliance than a motorcycle, It always runs!
I call it my "Gentleman's Express".
I did need to replace the exhaust headers last year due to rusting through. The aftermarket came through with a beautiful set of Stainless steel tubes for very small money ($250 ?) It's about ready for a new chain.
Now I bought this 2006 Vespa GTS with only 3400 miles. It has Age, but pristine. Looks NEW.
$3600.
High maybe, But at my age, a penny saved is a penny waisted.
Old tires are going away, Who wants to ride on 20 year old tires? That's $100 X2
Insurance is the same as the VFR at about $75 for the season.
Two years tags and reg. was $240, add another $50 for inspection...
Of course I just ordered an LED headlamp bulb, And had to buy a nice Bell "scooter helmet".
I ran 60 miles this afternoon puttering around (exploring) a few of the many back roads in this area. (I live in a forested paradise) There were a few "abandonded town roads" that beckoned for a true dual purpose bike. But I didn't fall for the trick of riding four miles up some two track suggestion of a road only to encounter a mess of fallen trees and running water through a boulder field. BTDT!
We have had some wonderful weather, and life is good on two wheels!
