I was thinking of the wrong pin.

In that locatiion just grease frequently and until you see grease coming out.

Got a grease zerk that won't take grease. I've got one of the tools that you put oil in and tap the piston to clean the zerk. Although it has worked on others, it has not on this one.

I've been unable to unscrew it using wrenches and, next a pair of vice grips.

It is the zerk to grease the quick attach piston for the bucket/grapple, etc.

Anyone think a bit of heat might help?

Any other ideas?

Thanks.
I have had good results with heating the base of the fitting with a handheld torch then using a hammer piston tool to force in penetrating oil.

I have a JD x590 with a drive in zerk on the mower deck. It wouldn't take grease and I couldn't replace it. Had another problem with the deck and took it to the dealer. They replaced the zerk while fixing the deck.

try a nut remover. You know, what you use for a rounded nut. Keep clean thoughts guys, I am not trying to be funny

Sounds like it’s fixed. Just for future reference I have had good success gripping and turning things that are too tight or rounded of by using Channel Lock model 410.

Take the bucket off and work the pin out to clean the hard grease out. Your grease buster should knock the plug loose.
I have to deal with one on my big tractor as it wants to freeze up without regular use.
I try to remember to grease it when changing buckets.
PS
When it is in locked position, seems the pin is forced against the zerk hole and impossible to force grease past the locked pin.

I used to operate a P&H Crane and we had problems with fittings. Now years later I found out that it was clay based grease. For years now I only use Moly grease.

The bucket on the backhoe of the old B7100 had a zirk that got smudged by rock so the nipple wouldn't seal to the grease gun and the zirk was locked/distorted from the force. I drilled a tap size hole for 1/4-28, deep enough it went into the pin a bit (so what?) and threaded it. New zirk and in a location that was more protected. 20 minutes. Less time than it took to read this thread.

Glad it's fixed...for others / future - if you can get it removed (or not), waving a torch over it for a little while will typically get that hardened grease to eventually squirt out. Shoot some fresh through it afterwards & you should be good.
