One night put after dark, I was walking my pooch. The cattle were by the road so I stopped and was talking to them.

I turned around and shined the flashlight into the field behind me, and there were five deer about 20 yards watching me

They don't get messed with around me either. And the dogs don't bother them either.

I've seen they don't get startled based upon your demeanor. BIL walked right by a doe once while hunting. He set is climbing tree stand and leaned his rifle against a tree. Doe was watching him as he got the climber ready for that tree. He noticed it looking at him. He leans over to get his gun and she immediately bolts. Instead of an interesting hooman, he became a predator. They know the difference.

Especially those around here that know my BIL, who at that time missed a LOT. Deer would just watch him and snicker...

Pic below, my grandson one July day were out working the vineyard. We were at one end deer were midway eating ripening grapes. I encouraged him to walk up to one of the two fawns. When I took this he was about 15-20 yds from them. He was not threat and they knew it.

Later I realized what the little white dots are for... Targets!!!
