Leak at hst input shaft seal

To get that bearing out externally, I'm thinking you'll have to carefully use a pick and pry the inner race out, carefully get all the balls out, then pry the outer race out of the bore. Short of that, you'd have to disassemble the hydrostat so you could remove the input shaft out of the bearing, allowing you to press the bearing out of the inside of the front cover.

There should be little to no pressure on the back side of that shaft seal. If oil is squirting out I would suspect there are problems deeper inside the HST.

Does that bearing come off the front of that shaft or off the rear. Unusual design if nothing is keeping that shaft from moving inside the bearing.

Do you have a parts breakdown for that HST?

Concern would also be on why is that bearing bad since should be running in constant oil bath and where did the debris go?

I'd probably take the whole thing apart and make sure it's clean inside

For sure that bearing isn't held in with a snap ring?

As suggested, you pretty much have to search for a parts break down diagram to see how this thing comes apart.

Use a pick and pry the inner race out? Then get all the balls out? And I take it you've had success with this method before?

Is there a vent in the transmission and if so, is it clean and functioning properly? My simple mechanical vent on the front axle rusted shut, fortunately for me this was caught before it started leaking. Also, be on the lookout for dirt dobbers plugging holes, especially the down tube on the engine if the tractor sits off more than it’s run.

I didn't say it was a great plan😆. I have done some unconventional things.

Just "brain" storming here brother.
